We've reached treble figures - 100 programmes, 100 hours of radio (well, nearer 400 hours if you count all the repeats....).

To celebrate, we're having a Happening.

Happening 100 is more of a sound collage than a normal programme, interspersed with extracts from Alan Kaprow's 1966 album 'How To Make A Happening".

Kaprow (1927 - 2006) was a pioneering American installation and performance artist known for his Happenings and his contributions to the Fluxus movement.

New show each Thursday @ 20:00 (UK), repeated Sundays @ 19:00 (UK) and Tuesdays @ 20:00 (UK).

RADIO FRANKENSTEIN INTERNATIONAL #104 - ELVIS IS EVERYWHERE

Thursday 15 August 2019 @ 20:00 (UK) plus repeats.

August 16th is the 42nd anniversary of the death of Elvis Presley.... at the age of 42.

And as anyone who has read the Hitch-hikers Guide To The Galaxy will know, 42 is the answer to Life, the Universe and Everything.

To mark this cosmic event we present a programme of songs associated with Elvis, from a wide range of artists.

In fact, the one thing we dont have much of is Presley himself... only 2 tracks, and one of those is an instrumental track sans Elvis.

Despite that, and as Mojo Nixon will remind you... Elvis Is Everywhere. Enjoy.

Programme 104 - 15 August 2019

01 - Elvis Is Everywhere (Mojo Nixon)
02 - Burning Love (Elvis Presley)
03 - Hound Dog (Big Mama Thornton)
04 - King's Call (Phil Lynott)
05 - In The Ghetto (Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds)
06 - Blue Moon Of Kentucky (Ray Charles)
07 - Heartbreak Hotel (Buddy Love)
08 - Elvis Is Dead ( Peter & The Test Tube Babies)
09 - Heartbreak Hotel (John Cale)
10 - Suspicious Minds (Candi Staton)
11 - Little Sister (Ry Cooder)
12 - Don't Be Cruel (The Residents)
13 - Wooden Heart (Hortense Ellis)
14 - Baby I Don't Care (Buddy Holly)
15 - Mystery Train (Junior Parker)
16 - His Latest Flame (Del Shannon)
17 - Crying In The Chapel (The Orioles)
18 - Are You Lonesome Tonight ? (Elvis Presley)

 New show each Thursday @ 20:00 (UK), repeated Sundays @ 19:00 (UK) and Tuesdays @ 20:00 (UK).

RADIO FRANKENSTEIN INTERNATIONAL #105

22 August 2019 @ 20:00 (UK) plus repeats

In contemporary photos and videos Daphne Oram (1925 - 2003) looks like the stereotypical middle-aged, middle class English housewife. You'd expect her most exciting exploits to be flower arranging at the Womens Institute.

Appearances can be deceptive. She was one of the first British composers to produce electronic sound, and was a pioneer of musique concrète in the UK. As a co-founder of the BBC Radiophonic Workshop, she became a central figure in the evolution of electronic music.

She was the creator of the Oramics technique for creating electronic sounds using drawn sound.

Besides being a musical innovator, she was the first woman to independently direct and set up a personal electronic music studio, and the first woman to design and construct an electronic musical instrument.

And you'd never heard of her ? Tune in to this weeks show to remedy that - we're playing "Private Dreams & Public Nightmares" recorded in conjunction with Frederick Bradnum.

01 - Summertime (Ahmed Abdul Malik)

02 - Private Dreams & Public Nightmares
(Frederick Bradnum & Daphne Oram)

03 - Calligraphy II : Shadows (Joan La Barbara)

04 - Declamation : The Universe Sent Me To
Converse With You (Sun Ra)

Only four long tracks this week, bad news for those of you with short attention spans, but sometimes you just cant say it in a 3-minute song.
