Now that's interesting, one studio which is set up for DJ's, the other a traditional radio station desk, presumably for those doing the mainstream/commercial shows.

Sounds like they are on 101.4 at the moment. Patchy reception in East Herts.

Are you sure I don't think it's them

It's not them, yet.
They are doing 'test shows' so it's looking like it's going to be any time soon.

And I doubt very much anyone in Hertfordshire would be able to pick it up when it comes on any how

Watford is in Hertfordshire and I have no doubt it would be heard there, even if the signal isn't too great.

I thought it was going to be low power for South West London and isn't there a high power classic fm transmitter on 101.5 for the North side of Herts and Cambridgeshire? that would interfere

Whatever it was, it went off after midnight. It was in Mono and no rds. The deviation was in spec and sound quality far too superior to be a pirate. Im pretty sure it was a test by Flex. By the way you'll be surprised at what you can hear in Herts, especially when you use a yagi antenna, pointing towards London !

No that's in East Anglia and with a good enough tuner like a Sony XDR, it wouldn't matter.

Low power for south west London doesn't just mean it will be strong in SW London and then disappear as soon as you're no longer in that part of London. In order to have enough dB signal strength around the whole of SW London, it's would still be able to be received well out of the area, like any other FM station which serves any certain areas.

Exactly.
And even without a yagi too.

Got something on 101.4 playing House with a message this is a test every once in a while. Assuming it's Flex, no RDS

It's likely, surely there's no pirate that would be foolish enough to jump on 101.4 in Flex's target area at this point.

Getting 101.4 loud and clear here in north Hampshire this evening. It'll be interesting to see if I can still pick it up in flat conditions.
