How activate are ofcom, up in the North of Ireland? Is it better to have your studio, separate from your broadcasting site?

i'm not sure how active they are, probably not very much as i don't know of any pirates within NI now TBH. its always best to have your studio and transmission separate from each other regardless of how active the relevant authorities are

Thanks for your response guys! Any reason why their isn't any pirates in NI, I know down in rep of Ireland, their quite a few now. Even in most main cities across the uk main land , you can always lock in to a pirate station

i think its to do with lack of interest. the pirates in NI from what i remember used to mostly play country music or oldies with a couple of dance stations. oldies and country are as far as i know catered to on radio there now. i think nobody is interested in setting up a dance music pirate. shame, as they're probably would be a market. the last big pirate in NI was kiss fm back in 2010 i think, it was taken off rather quick though. even in the republic pirate radio has somewhat declined a good bit from the early 2000s. the 2003 raids which wiped every pirate in the republic off air was a major fright to the stations at the time, many not returning or changing name. since 2003 we had no 24 hour pirate until i think 2007/8? mind you i think we would have seen decline anyway as more stations were licenced and people moving on to other things eventually. but who knows

Thanks again. Yeah I believe their would be a market on NI, for a underground dance music station. It's something we have been looking into. I'm having problems trying to locate a broadcast site, that is a good few miles away from the studio. Any suggestions?

Your transmission site doesn't need to be a large distance away, just don't have a cable running between the studio and transmitter. Don't make their job easier than it needs to be.

Just after a few weekends, that was quick, I'm sure their was a lot stuff going on back then, high level of threats of you know I mean. Yeah I have done it since about 2006, we use to broadcast from Glasgow with a 30 watt, from Friday night till Sunday. Got load of positive feedback, the station built up a good following.

Is there much going on in Glasgow these days?? I know 100.8 and 102.1 seem to be regular frequencies.

I was only ever on 102.1 Rythm. fm, then they had a sister. Station Project FM. I dnt my mates are doing it anymore. But if I remember correctly I think Pulse Fm is on 102.1 now. I've haven't been over on a while though.

I remember project fm from the old forums. I hope he's still on the waves. Seemed a decent person.

Yeah I remember seeing a video about 10 years ago of them setting up on the 45 storey Red Road tower blocks in Glasgow (demolished this month).
