You could probably run a BLF177 without the antenna connected at 100w, I've seen those babies produce a good 180w at the bottom of the band even with a low drive (1-1.5w)

I dont understand what did happen to that rig.. It was working night before accident then when it c ame to me it was only powering up nothing dead.. it was all swr protected as you would expect full spec built... can only think wrong antennas or no antennas or something .

That wouldn't matter if the SWR protection was working....

Exactly all seemed fine with rig no rf from pro3 and when bypassed with another pro3 the amp had no rf and no real current drain both exciter and amp in my eyes were needing finals and drivers ... other then wrong or no antenna im thinking static has fried it still an easy repair ..

Without testing it there's no way of knowing...

Re: Allusion FM 100.8 bedroom radio
I'm feeling very sad after watching this video. Damn.
Regarding the rig... probably some static or similar killed fet. Easy repair even with 20 EURO SD2931-10 which is absolute replacement for BLF177

You will need to make sure it is tested by a fully qualified engineer or it will not work properly. Back in 1945 I used to build these transmitters using BLF176 valve output stages, they worked very well, however if they weren't tuned properly and professionally they'd explode in your face and the neighbourhood would think that Germany were flying over again.

your right... I have told the person to stay away with the hammers and chisels and just to keep the rig safe and enjoy it as a keepsake.
