What I can't understand about all the "minimal" genres is how the DJ is able to tell all the tunes apart?! It also seems like the less musical content in the tune, the longer it has to go on for.

+1

I think the same about that awful "Deep House" genre that seems to have the exact same bassline in every fucking tune.

It's not even a bassline. It would be more accurately described as a lowmidline.

I had polyphonic ringtones 10 years ago on an old Nokia with more feeling & vibe in them than anything that those above genres have managed to conjour up! "Deep"/Minimal House is music for the bandwagon jumpers/fashionistas, the brain dead & ket heads.

Seriously, fuck that!

its not deep house at all. its chart dance music. it has the odd element of deep house and a nodd to old school house but its still effectively chart.

I am glad Phat 107.6 was mentioned, not many seemed to have heard that. I spent a brief time in Weighbridge back in 2000ish mark and was locked in. Well enjoyed. My friend had a copy of the recording of it which I had done from back then. I am sure he has posted it online, if anyone wants a link let me know and I shall dig it out

Phatt FM were only low powered 30-50w but covered one hell of a distance due to their Crystal Palace location. First heard it around early '98 a short time after Dream FM left us.
