It was fun banging out the tunes driving like a loon around south London. Back then quite a few still only come on in the evening and weekends and played non stop UKG - these days it's just constant house music

That bandscan! Blast from the past. I think we had it relatively good back then, some really listenable stations!

Used to listen to Force in 00s was a good station but would come and go when it pleased in Kent I liked the old skool shows but can't remember who did them. Charge was enjoyable I did a brief stint on there a year or two ago when it was trying to make a comeback but it was at its best about 10 years ago when on 90.8FM, lots of cool stations back then from the list.

I first heard Force in late 94, when old school was new at the time. ...Showing my age now!

Wow they were going that long? I only picked them up randomly one time and for about 3 months I could lock in but then they seemed to vanish so must have gone for good.teckniqs wrote:I first heard Force in late 94, when old school was new at the time. ...Showing my age now!

Yep but they hadn't been around long and were still new to the dial. It was on 106.4...
They didn't quite go for good, I don't really know the in's and out's but as far as I do know the dial was sold or given to another station from the same area calling themselves Project 106.5 who are still on to this day.

REALLY?!?! All I ever hear on there is boring, repetitive House music with little variation. They don't have the House thing on lock like House FM or Point Blank. In fact, I don't even know what the subgenre of House is that they're tryna pushSparki wrote:heard it play garage last time I locked

It was deep house for a while then they ventured into some 4x4 garage. I don't know who was playing but sounded alright, I'm not a big house fan as it goes.

Its not actually House it's a sub-genre of Techno called Minimal Techno. Too repetitive man sounds like a slow simple Techno beat on loop with nothing at all else going on in the tune, its big at places like DC10 IbizaLengman wrote:REALLY?!?! Oh that shit! doof doof doof plink plonk doof doof doof plink plonk... over and over and over I dont know how people can even call that music? sounds like someone having a shit while tapping their foot. To me techno is the hard stuff at 150 that Colin Favar used to bang out on Kiss FM or hardcore techno like Bass X that sort of thing.DJ Mikey wrote:Its not actually House it's a sub-genre of Techno called Minimal Techno. Haha exactly, iv been to House events where they have had a Minimal Techno room, and you only get the Ket heads in there fucked out their heads. I often scan the dial from time to time and since they been on not once heard a Dj talk, not sure what the policy is on there ?

Just the same 4 bar techno kick looped to buggery for about a year, the ket heads wouldnt even tell the difference and would probably think the station plays lots of tunesDJ Mikey wrote:Haha exactly, iv been to House events where they have had a Minimal Techno room, and you only get the Ket heads in there fucked out their heads. That would explain why I absolutely hate it then! I'm not a fan of Techno in any form.DJ Mikey wrote:Its not actually House it's a sub-genre of Techno called Minimal Techno. Re: Feb 2002 London & Essex Bandscan
minimal is indeed the style of music project is pushing. the odd nice tune but mostly i find that type of stuff boaring. policy from what i can gather is music with little to no talking. still its something different.
