shearminator wrote: Thu Apr 21, 2022 11:58 am Hello hoping you lot will read this. Shearminator here I lived in blackwater near Camberley all my life until recently in 2018 I moved to Basingstoke. Radio active was indeed a big station in the local area's back in the 90s. I'm still in touch with sible, and recently in touch with DJ riddler and Paul DJ renegade. Have spent last 20 years with MC magic too. Active, Energy sinster Bracknell were fab back then. As the years passed new stations came and went. Creative fm, 2 hot fm, release radio. You will be pleased to know digital radio now is banging. Release radio, pointblank radio London, unity and centreforce all have legal licences so check them! Kane FM also used to be a Guildford pirate they jumped on a legal frequently modulation airwave before DAB got more excitement.

Peace you can catch my profile on mixcloud or SoundCloud

yea yea and if you go premium you can rewind lol otherwise you have to start again. shame the pirate scene died off! still DAB plus makes up for it less hassle and they cover quite good areas :tup

Picked that up all the way to Andover Hampshire on the train with a Sony Walkman around 1999/2000, I heard it was coming from Guildford Hogs Back transmitter site.
I later heard that the dirty DTi set up night vision cameras and started tampering with their set up to catch them on camera.

.....Another station came on from the same place a few years later called Streamin' FM 87.8 which also got out very well to the west. I was told they had a triple stack up. :whistle

Unfortunately some Heart FM 106.2 listeners were getting annoyed with the interference which is why the DTI might have been hot on their trail and determined to totally take them down, which they sadly did in the end. Night vision cameras eh!

You could still see remnants of the aerial when others were taking photos of the site for transmitter gallery sites etc! Must have eventually been removed.

Yeah I heard about that actually, Guildford and local residents not being able to listen to their favourite pile of shite station.

....After they got taken down they never returned, I heard the station was ran by the guy who owns Dance2 records and he gave up pirate radio after that, understandably.

I never heard that station I remember another station on 106.0 that moved from 106.9 in the west London area it was a house and garage station I can't remember the name but back to quilford they could easily have found heart on one of the endless relays if that station had been on 106 in recent years

Do you mean Jive FM?

....They couldn't it wasn't in recent years and Heart was only on 106.2 back then and 100.7 West Midlands I think.
No other Hearts until quite a few years later. :tup

And as for the Guilford subject i know heart didn't start their ridiculous take over of all the local radio stations until around 2009 i was saying if it had been recent years 106 might have had less of a problem in Guilford

I think that station was coming from Hayes or Yeading, I first heard it around either 1996 or 97.
I had no idea that it moved to 106.0 because I just had solid bleed over from Virgin 105.8 and Heart 106.2 back then.
