Dream FM outside broadcast
Does any one remember when dream fm did an outside broadcast from adrenalin village battersea?
I've always wondered how it was done I assumed it was a band 1 link from the club to the studio as when they spoke it it went over the top of the audio that was playing in the studio as if they were in the studio.
Was any one here involved in that?

I know exactly how it was done, I remember them doing it Friday 13th August 1996 Chelsea Bridge from Fiaz's Renault 5 GT Turbo with Scott from Broadcast Whorehouse.
They were using a 12v band 3 car transmitter into a taxi aerial sent over to a small Shure microphone receiver crystal tuned to something like 173.800MHz which was simply sat on top of the speaker with a small telescopic antenna at their Queenstown road studio.

Funny how this was over twenty years ago yet the stations haven't since come up with anything as creative as this with the same old bollocks on in London every day just playing CD'S

Thameside Radio did outside broadcasts in the 1970s! They broadcast live from a picnic in Hyde Park, they broadcast live from a party boat on the Thames, and they did very many more quite challenging OBs without getting caught. They were eventually forced off the air in the early 80s because of the number of raids they'd suffer. They would often switch sites every hour, but would sometimes lose two sets of gear each weekend. Eventually they gave up, simply because of the expense, but they set the technical bar for many years to come!

If it was as harsh with ofcom now as the dti was in the 1980s no stations would be on now?

Pretty much so. Every time things got really tough, RFL would make a reappearance just to prove a point! Some stations would get raided three or four times in the same day and they'd be using different sites each time. I remember running 'round London replacing raided gear all day on one Bank Holiday. Gotts was a very busy boy that day - until someone disabled his car!famefm wrote:If it was as harsh with ofcom now as the dti was in the 1980s no stations would be on now?

Big difference today is there's about 4 times as many pirates on the London dial, they can't keep up any more. I'm sure Gotts would have tried though lol...

Re: Dream FM outside broadcast
I remember Ruud Awakening doing live broadcasts from a couple of warehouse parties around 2000 out Hackney Wick. A mate was deejaying on the rig (sound system) with a couple of their mc's and they started doing shout outs. Said he nearly crapped himself when they told him it was being broadcast live
One of their deejays told me about the link being on the roof. They were quite open about it all. Think they did a club night live as well.

Great link. brings back some memories!.
Another random one does any one remember around 1996 when they got a studio raid, I think it was just before one of there party's when they came on supposedly live/direct from the lift room?
Was this real or just a setup did they have many studio raids?
