Hello ‘necks,
I need to link over a distance shorter than a mile to a tower block ,what would be the best option?my fear is that a microwave link would be easy to trace over that short of a distance but I don’t really know since I’m new to this.would it be worth using a midpoint as well?

Re: Linking short distances
Can you get internet coverage at the output site? If you can, a Raspberry Pi, a D to A card and you can link using a VPN. You could be feeding the transmitter from anywhere!
"Why is my rig humming?"
"Because it doesn't know the words!"

Re: Linking short distances
Depends how long you want to enrol on the contract but you can get "unlimited" data from £10 a month from Three.
You're going to need an allowance of at least 45 GB/month for a 128k stream. You wouldn't think it'd be that much!

£10 a month sounds good.Is there a way of sending WiFi to the tx site with An antenna to get around using mobile data?

Look at the 5.8GHz links that are rectuangular units, not dishes. They could be spray painted to match brickwork, concrete etc, and hidden back from building parapet.
Test the paint first - typical test is to put it next to a bowl of water in the microwave. If it stays cool while water gets hot, you are OK. (Obviously on a bit of test plastic, not the unit itself!
