Rdvv pcb board via tin box
I was looking at rdvv pcb boards. I notice they don't have feet stands at corners for it to sit inside the tin box . So my question is does the pcb sit flat to bottom of tin box?. But surely not thought as solder at bottom of pcb could shorting.

It depends what version, because the 6 to 8w versions have TO220 transistor underneath the board between the bottom of the metal case/box.

So what is supporting the the corners underneath the board there is no holes for stands. I do get the transistor at centre will be bolted down to tin. But 4 corners I'm baffled.Electronically wrote:15 watt versionteckniqs wrote:It depends what version, because the 6 to 8w versions have TO220 transistor underneath the board between the bottom of the metal case/box.

Well transistor no at centre but more a to the right same thing thought mounted.Electronically wrote:So what is supporting the the corners underneath the board there is no holes for stands. every txer Must be tightened with screws add them ,it is an rf forbidden. You dont have to ask such a newbie question if you know rf rules. That is my opinion.

That's the thing every other circuit I've seen has the screw holes for the stands at corners just like nrg pll has holes for stands. So I do know the rf rules. So what supporting underneath if there is no holes for stands radiumradium98 wrote:every txer Must be tightened with screws add them ,it is an rf forbidden. You dont have to ask such a newbie question if you know rf rules. That is my opinion.

Re: RE: Re: Rdvv pcb board via tin box
I doubt that it's a copy. Every rdvv I've saw has them placed inside a tin box but I don't see how there mounting as I can't see underneath them so there must be something used underneath to prevent it from hitting the ground of the tin. I know transistor connects to it but rest of board shouldn't I would imagine.radium98 wrote:if is it a copy of thoses i would say the chinese pcb manu forget the holes,do them manualy with a grinder.

Re: Rdvv pcb board via tin box
Mine were just soldered to each corner the box a few mm above with the 2SD1971.
...I still remember them well but haven't used them for many years and had some of the first ever 2004/05 versions sent to me from designer RF Head.

Spot on there teckniqs. My idea was what you described there I solder edge of top of pcb to the tin to create the earth. But I was baffled to how it stays off the ground a few mm. Are my right saying there was stands below the pcb?teckniqs wrote:Mine were just soldered to each corner the box a few mm above with the 2SD1971.

No not on any of mine - just soldered to the box underneath the PCB in each corner. (they were single sided boards back then, so soldered at the bottom of PCB and not the top)

Re: RE: Re: Rdvv pcb board via tin box
OK brilliant teckniqs. Just this board here is double sided so I'll have to figure away of doing this. I have two options I either drill 4 holes at each corner create stands or just solder at each corner. But I think I'll go for the drill idea then screw them in via stands.teckniqs wrote:No not on any of mine - just soldered to the box underneath the PCB in each corner. We make "boxes" for sensitive circuit sections from pieces of PCB material. You can cut out the size you want, and build a complete box if you have the urge to!

Thanks Albert I'll keep that in mindAlbert H wrote:We make "boxes" for sensitive circuit sections from pieces of PCB material. You can cut out the size you want, and build a complete box if you have the urge to!
