An absolutely wicked listen from start to finish!
...Sunrise 88.75 FM The Closedown - their last day on air before they applied and failed to get a non-existant licence which they were falsely lied about to by the DTi.
Loads of live calls from other stations talking about the DTi, Eric Gotts, their set ups and their rigs etc all live over the air.

Nice find. Mr Bullock has a lot more on his channel too.
Hardcore FM - I was in London 30/11/91 and heard a Hardcore FM but around about 101.4 IIRC, and it was drifting a lot. Was this Harcore FM that spun off of Sunrise still on by November? Seems to have run into June at least, so probably the same one. I was on a school xmas shopping trip After going up Oxford Street, we got the radio out and tuned about for ages listening to stations in Hyde Park. Hardcore was the only station name I remember from that trip now.

Fair play to you mate you actually heard it when you was in London, I would have been about 11 years old. I used to tune into pirates back then (since about 1988) but I can't remember any of the names and had absolutely no idea they were unlicenced, I just noticed that quite often when I switched the radio back on it would be white noise so I thought that was a bit weird, I even thought the local record shop (rave outlet) was one of the stations (because it was the same style of music) but I hadn't even started secondary school yet lol.
....I managed to catch Sunrise in Byfleet in Surrey (quite weak) around late 92/early 93 but I had no idea how great of a station it was with all these well known DJ's starting on there like Ratpack, Ellis Dee, Funky Flirt etc.
I think I have listened to all of D.Bullocks Sunrise recordings now ....OK so he might've been all the way out in Southend on Sea with a little bit a crackly reception - but for the quality of the listen I can happily compromise.

Sorepoint had a very good site up at Crystal Palace and a well-engineered aerial, so they got out pretty well.
The Sunrise rigs came from us, and were seldom less than 180 Watts. Those rigs were mostly FET PAs, and used my little tin-box PLL exciters. They also had a couple of guys who knew how to construct and install aerials, so they had a better than average signal (mostly). As I remember, Sunrise were the first station that I ever supplied with a microwave studio output, midpoint and Band IV link system.

"Why is my rig humming?"
"Because it doesn't know the words!"

Nah! That's what their DJs called the station!

The 3 best stations to receive in those ( 1989) were sunrise 88.75 lightning 90.8 although in those days it was really on 91.0 before radios 2 3 and 4 were on those frequencies from 1994 onwards and starpiont 93.2 I used to get the 3 stations crystal clear in Reading
