80's/90's Builders

Post by Gigahertz » Fri Apr 11, 2025 8:42 pm

I picked up something recently that was mounted in a RS diecast box.

Inside the box was smaller diecast box that I beleive is a VCO made on copper clad board. On the bottom of the copper clad board is a etched marking in one of the corners "MFM" or "MKFM" sure its MFM without removing it again.

Does anyone reconise that builder? Wondering was this a 80's style rig as the power is 20watts.

If I can remember how to upload a picture I will at some point.

I might know when I see a picture of its innards.....!

A friend of mine made a run of diecast-cased 20 Watt rigs that mostly went to Germany, but some of them ended up in the UK. The first ones used the BGY33 or BGY133 power amplifier modules.
"Why is my rig humming?"
"Because it doesn't know the words!"
;)

Well its uses a "marked" 438 BGY/H also has a pre-driver using a 2N3553.

I'll see if I can get some photos put up soon.

The seller also had this, but was bought by someone else.

I think eventually, the DTI got all of KFM's rigs even though they were forced to return one taken around April 84. They were in diecast boxes but with the final separate - and it was larger, using a BLY90.
