Re: London FM Pirates Scan
This morning I'm getting a silent carrier on 93.7 in Stereo and UK Garage/RnB on 99.0 (grossly overmod). The 99.0 thing is on regularly, but usually silent most of the time. SE12
And as I'm about to hit post, the 93.7 thing is gone. Someone tuning a rig up maybe

87.8 is actually '4Tune FM', https://4tunefm.co.uk/, stream is https://c30.radioboss.fm:18274/stream. I don't know if it's still on 87.8, I'm heading down there this week so I'll do a bandscan .

I can confirm that 4Tune FM is indeed still on air on 87.8, just checked. It comes through pretty well on my Roberts portable here in Bermondsey SE1.g33ky wrote: ↑Mon Apr 26, 2021 4:55 pm 87.8 is actually '4Tune FM', https://4tunefm.co.uk/, stream is https://c30.radioboss.fm:18274/stream. I'm also picking up the RSL Ramadan Radio next door on 87.9. That's being transmitted from atop the Tooting Islamic Centre on Upper Tooting Road. I'm amazed I'm able to receive it here in stereo with the RDS "Ramadan". The transmitter is about 7 miles away from me as the crow flies, and it's perfectly listenable, although very noisy. You can clearly see the rig on Google Street View on the roof of the Tooting Islamic Centre. It's getting quite a knocking from 4Tune FM on 87.8, as you would expect.

Couple more for the list, heard East London way:
88.2 RDS: DOST-FM (Turkish) (I guess it's these fellas... http://dostfm.com/)
89.4 RDS: FUSION
104.2 RDS: DEM (another Turkish station)
Also caught the following:
87.5 RDS: LIVEFMUK
87.8 4tune
88.0 Unid, playing Reggae (Pulse?) - this station had a TX fault which meant it was on for about 5 seconds, then off for about 2 - no doubt some kind of safety cut-out kicking in
88.4 RDS: VISION
90.8 Lightning
91.5 Mega
93.0 Slam
94.6 Kool
95.1 Divine
95.5 RDS: ONTOPFM
96.1 S-Dance
97.1 London Soul
99.3 Digital Soul
99.6 Fate (also heard a long way into Essex)
99.8 Supreme
102.0 Concious
105.6 RDS: PLAYBACK

89.4 is Citylock but for some strange reason new cars with Artwork Logos show a Fusion FM logo for them.

Re: London FM Pirates Scan
That makes sense. No logo came up, just the station name, but I've had the same thing even with legit stations. It's probably the same 'PI' code on the RDS as that one stored in the car. There are only a limited number so it's inevitable that there will be some the same.

Re: London FM Pirates Scan
First post here....
The list of London stations on this thread still active is astonishing!
I've not been listening for quite a while, as I sold my FM tuner for the HiFi a year or so ago. Just moved to Crystal Palace and have just ordered a very nice Meridian tuner so am really looking forward to scanning around!
Only recently moved back to London from Bedfordshire (never picked any pirate stations up around there since Perception FM went off air years ago).
Hoping that given I'm up here on high land I'll pick lots of stuff up from London / home counties.

You should have some fun tuning in from up there. Im way lower down with an old rotel tuner and external antenna. Sounds lush thro the hifi but, even so, I get more stations when I'm out in my car.
Would be great to hear what you can pick up from home with the extra height.

The tuner arrives early next week so will run through the active list posted on here and see if I get anything extra!
Have also used my scanner a couple of times and picked a couple of HAM's up, along with the airport control towers etc. Seem to be picking things up with ease up here!

Height-wise I think you're well above anything in a 10 mile radius and in most directions significantly further than that. Look forward to seeing your report!Qwerty Cavalry wrote:Thanks!Polecat wrote: ↑Wed Jun 23, 2021 1:10 amWelcome back to SE London Qwerty Cavalry.Qwerty Cavalry wrote:First post here....

It'll be interesting to see what difference the height makes vs around 5 miles difference in distance....

Re: London FM Pirates Scan
Some terrible modulation coming out of Station FM 89.8 lately. 350-400 kHz wide and interfering with adjacent stations (Westside 89.6 and Hot 90.0). Westside are a community-licensed station so this could get Station into trouble quite quickly. A signal that wide will not even demodulate properly on most normal FM radios. Tried to reach out to them via Twitter with an SDR demo video, to no avail:

Just noticed F8 FM are now on 92.7, no sign of them on 99.6 so guessing they have moved frequency

Really how far does it get out? Point-blank got out quite well on 90.2 I don't think anyone will ever manage 14 years again on 90.2

Relatively weak here NE side but that's 35 miles out, so maybe OK inside town or if they moved West, surprised not on DAB now
