Re: Is in car transmitter use increasing?
I heard some unusual and surprising things the other day along with the usual 2-3 seconds of beats of various different kinds and dead air signals all on 87.5 . Firstly something like morse code and it went on a long time about 2 mins or maybe 3. Also I heard American accents of youth with a lead talker a man with like teenagers or young people laughing talking about videos games I heard "You get one sword strike" and something about "Yesterday 'name' you killed your dad, yes I killed my dad....blah blah" obviously recounting some game experience this went on for 4 mins and it was very strong 4 bar signal on panasonic. It did not have a RSL feel about ti as that would have gone 10-15mins and signal up and down it came and it went after 4 mins.
No idea what either of those were all about very strange listening to 87.5
Maybe gaming thing was a hospital radio ?

The dial is Glowing 88-108 , spin the wheel to light those Red LEDs , see signal needle rise.

I heard kesha - your love is my drug, song is from 14 years ago today, nice to hear some music coming over as I seem to get just podcasts. Searching for love is my drug brought up lots of results, I thought it sounded like her, I managed to work out it was kesha - your love is my drug from 20 seconds

wow nothing like a bit of gangster rap before 9am, couldn’t id the song, i couldn’t pick up that many on 108, there is sangam fm on 107.9 not something that would effect these things, i’m guessing their mostly leaving them on the default frequency of 87.5. I could record them using an old laptop, looking at the waveform can only work on a clear frequency, there are two rsls on 87.7 and 87.9, on 88.1, now and again radio 2 out of area transmitter comes up could lead to false triggering. I suppose with recording you could edit out the dead air, have a continuous loop

Heard The killers - somebody told me, a song from 2004,
some new rave maybe, may almost have enough for an album one day, people seem to have actually quite good taste, the audio quality of this last one was very tinny though no bass, shame its a good song.

This is a very new but odd aspect to radio, it won't be for everyone that's for sure but I find it quite fun just to see what pops up 87.5 is a frequency where quite a bit seems to be happening albeit mainly miniscule power and quick glimpses into music choices, podcasts, sat nav directions and the totally unexpected and unexplainable, maybe even a good frequency for vhf skip.

Re: Is in car transmitter use increasing?
The harmonic filter on these things can be appalling (if there at all). I found a super wide-band FM audio signal on 442 MHz and wondered what I had stumbled across. Turned out to be the 5th harmonic of an in-car transmitter operating on 88.4 MHz. The 442 MHz signal could be picked up nearly half a mile away and was *much* stronger than the 88.4 MHz signal which disappeared after 100 ft or so.
if it ain't broke, keep tweaking

Re: Is in car transmitter use increasing?
Some of the early ones have harmonics that are the same strength as the main, look like a hedgehog on a spectrum, quite surprised to see things going all the way up to 150mhz, the 150mhz signal may of been stronger, reminded me of a crystal oscillator don’t know what they were trying to do.
I heard somethings this morning, version of i love rock and roll not the britney version, something with a psy beat, (this seems to featuring in dance music at the moment) something afro Caribbean too weak.

some limp biscuit stuff, then bluetooth connected, wonder if the sdr play will do anything wait to see when it comes. I suspect most people want to listen to old rave music, don’t want to try anything new

Re: Is in car transmitter use increasing?
bluetooth connected sucessfully, then a bit of white noise, (the actual song) music stopped bluetooth connected again wonder if they were having techical issues. Heard some r n b type rap, then another jammed it out with silence, then the r n b song came back, then a load of hiss afterwards. Phone convo, asian accent what has someone got to do with this, hissy reception
I wasn’t saying this was a vaild way to make up a playlist, there are music sites, looking down the top 40 you’ll problalby find at least a few songs you like. I do wish there was more activity on these forums I feel like i’m the only person posting lately
I hear fluttering which sounds like a tropospheric signal, i’m guessing its noone’s distant pirate radio transmitter in 2025. I hear some weak lady gaga song don’t know the name of it.

Think theres a chinese lady and an american lady, the woman who speaks on mine is the american, (I have it wired into an am transmitters I don’t even use) she sits there reading these things, not something that is generated from her saying afew words.

The voice I was hearing didn’t seem as posh as the ones I have, guess the one saying bluetooth sucessful is the chinese lady.

Re: Is in car transmitter use increasing?
In the kitchen I heard some music come in on 87.5 I switched on the radio to make dinner and due to battery change was on 87.5 briefly I thought a new station was on but it was only there for about 10 seconds so must have been a car passing with a little tx in.

Think someones a fan of lady gaga, abracadabra I could hear, interestingly there was 15 minutes of nothing been heard, there were 2, so you could hear two mixing together. I think here I might just be hearing the same ones going by, hearing a different part of someones playlist. With some of the 2 mentioned I could’nt hear or see a car nearby interesting, must of been a fair distance.
