1206am Dublin is on again this weekend (today Saturday anyway). I don't think it was on at all last weekend but I could be wrong.

Listening to a station on 6265 KHz (Shortwave) at the moment ID'ing as "Radio Cuckoo". Seems (based on music/presenters accent) to be coming from Ireland. Anyone know more about this station ?
Also on SW Weekend Music Radio (from Scotland) seem to be pretty regular these days on 6290 KHz

Anyone know if FreeDAB/SaorDAB have definitely called it a day ? They didn't seem to be around during my most recent excursions via Sligo and Dundalk.
Someone said sometime ago they tried 1188kHz (253m) , a frequency which 'Persona Non Grata' would no doubt relate has significant 'history' in the now distant past in Dublin.
It was used by Radio Dublin ("253" was a big part of their brand identity) from the mid 1970's until c.1992/93
RTE used it for a while for their Cork local service and Radio Caroline used it (more accurately 1187 KHz) for various spells in the 1960's and 70's

Hello campers!
Here is what I picked up around Dublin at different stages over the June Bank Holiday weekend just gone (in Ireland). All were oldies stations except the first.
FM:
87.6 (megahertz) - Chill FM
93.3 - ABC 80s
94.3 - Retro FM
98.4 - The 90s Network
99.5 - Unidentified playing oldies
AM/MW:
1206 kikohertz - Radio Daniella

that is near Castlebar, County Mayo
it says the receive Yagi, whilst aiming in the general direction of Dublin (approx 130 miles away) , is Horizontal - not Vertical - polarisaton - so probably it will unlikely pick up Dublin FM pirates during tropo (pirates are usually Vertical-only) but maybe still worth a try? It does say Dublin licenced commercials can be received on it during tropo (they are mixed and would be more power - than pirates - too)
Horizontal receive is good for picking up distant BBC etc UK signals in Ireland (and DX of Dublin commercial stations) , since it cuts down in strength the usually vertical-only (outside Dublin) Irish signals .
BBC R4 on 95.6 is audible on it in normal conditions, if a bit noisy and has frequent aircraft flutter... other BBCs from the same transmitter (Brougher) are smothered by strong local signals on frequencies 0.1 away

for my previous post (too late to edit!)
I do not think there are any others in ROI - online SDR that covers the FM band?

Any idea what the MPB station is supposed to be (in the bandscan linked above on 94.9 and 99.7)
Who/what is MPB ?

That is weird. They seem to have invested heavily in transmission infrastructure to cover a region that's not exactly heavily populated for the most part ?
(Then again the licenced stations around that neck of the woods are pretty woeful)

After raids on some FM pirates in Dublin last December 5th, things had gone very quiet in pirate land in Dublin especially on FM (even quieter than it had been for the last couple of years, as weekends had continued to have some activity). Radio Daniella had turned up earlier this year on MW on 1206kh - MW seems to be left alone these days. Some players have re-emerged over the last two weekends on FM. Firstly, there was oldies music heard on 94.3 FM the previous weekend. It was speculated that this was the return of oldies pirate Retro FM which had been on that frequency before it went silent. Over the weekend just gone, oldies pirate (and online station) ABC 93FM returned to 93.3 FM, the frequency it had been using before it went silent. There was also oldies being played on 99.5 FM. This may be Retro FM as 94.3 will shortly be used by a temporary licensed station and was not being used this time, or it could be former MW pirate Energy which often relayed/streamed on that frequency even after it was no longer on MW.
