But why do these kinds of things always miss out many of the other pirates, including some 24/7 ones. Although I should probably hold off making a sweeping statement like that till I’ve seen it, anything pirate radio is good to see in my opinion, as is remembering the 80s which makes me feel all warm n fuzzy.
Thanks for the info
I hear you Lee and this is why this film was concisously made without including Kool FM or Rince for example, as most people know the history of those stations. The Manchester stations are fairly scarce in these films as most are made in London, hence why the team came here to talk to WBLS and Sting FM DJs for example and stations like 106FM which have never been documented before on film.

So yes, your comment has already been covered as we as a team felt the same thing. We invited stations from Leeds and Birmingham and other cities to also take part. Some declined to be involved and others did not reply, so as much as we would have loved to have featured many other smaller less represented stations, it is not always possible to make the links or the time frames just didn't work out for various reasons.

Hope you like this Lee. The great man himself Russ Marland talks about Spin Inn, Vinyl Exchange, the Manchester music scene back a day and much more.

It's been on 87.7 today, still on now. Not as strong as last time. RDS still says Ruby 87.5, and station IDs announcing 87.5

Was doing a lot of driving around Cheshire/Manchester/N Wales today so had a good listen to Ruby 87.5/87.7. Signal is strong across Manchester, listenable up M61 past Bolton and down M6 to Sandbach/Crewe. Later on had it strong basically all the way across Cheshire as far as Delamere Forest then coming in and out along A55 up to the Rhuallt Hill. I'd say fairly similar to Wk-end in terms of coverage area maybe going slightly farther although don't think signal is as strong, more patchy in places.

RDS and idents both say 87.5 but its definitely on 87.7. Don't think its drift though, it stayed solid on 87.7 all day or at least while I heard it anyway. Seems more like a PLL rig set to wrong freq to me. Mod level seemed to change between sets, was very quiet this morning, louder while driving back tonight but never really loud, sounds like their not running any compression. Pretty sure it was in stereo too although could have been imagining it.

This was recorded at Llym services M6/M56 around 9pm. DJ really likes his Ed Solo/Jungle Cakes tracks, heard a lot of that today. Although also heard some darker DnB mixes and a garage mix.

I was only kidding about it drifting and didn't think anybody would've taken it seriously.

....I can only imagine they have bumped it up a touch to move away from MAR/CAR 87.5

RUBY FM is quite a strange name to call a station playing this kind of music, though.

Yeah could be, didn't catch MAR yesterday so no idea theyd been on until saw it on here.

Still going this morning, caught it coming in weak on my way to work around 7.30-8 playing downtempo house kinda mix. Same station as still IDs as RUBY87.5.

Will have a listen on the way home tonight and see if its still on air

Don't worry Teck I was right with you on the China one-liner... ;)
Definitely not drift, the carrier is solid. Jvok asked about the stereo, yes it is. I agree, IMHO the mod is a low and I can hear processing artefacts but they sound like they're on the pre-recorded content which explains the wrong idents following the frequency move.

mar 87.5 was on still booming into the walkden area, radio overdrive kinda booming but their music was over deviating badly compared to other stations near the frequency like capital 102. :whistle

I didn't mean you Shuff, and your reply did make me chuckle...
...But anyway on a serious note (and I'm only but guessing but...) from what it sounds like it's possibly one of those cheap China rigs if it's in Stereo and maybe it could be one of those 30w jobs which aren't in a box with a fan which we've all seen over the years :?:
They can push out around 45-50w on the bottom end of the band, so it's highly likely coming from a good location on higher ground as it sounds like it's reaching out quite well going by some of these comments, so it's probably just lower power from a higher site.
....But like I said I'm just guessing and only going by what I've been reading
