Hi everyone!
I'm an assistant producer at a TV production company called Acme Films (please feel free to check out our website:
http://acmetv.co.uk/) and we're currently developing a documentary that will be a history of pirate radio.
I was wondering if anyone had any information on Eric Gotts (DTI) and whether you have any contact details for him or his family?
Any help much appreciated!
Many Thanks,
Evie

In the mid eightees was the best period along with the pioneering stations before and thanks to the dti they hardly had any time left in peace at that time so when the people wanted it most it was kept of so not much to be grateful for from the 80s DTI

Gotts interfered with stations from the mid-70s until around 2000 when he retired. He was a menace who thought that the radio spectrum was his to police. He was prosecuted himself on several occasions - for assault, theft, defamation (that was funny - we won, too!), and we actually have video tape of him "illegally operating" a transmitter himself!
I don't know if he's still alive, or where he retired to. Frankly, I don't care. The man was a lying, malicious bastard (he often fabricated "evidence") and he got exactly what he deserved when he had his attitude adjusted with a baseball bat when he broke into a flat that he (wrongly) thought was being used as a studio. He retired shortly after that embarrassment.

He died in 1996 age 76 and I'm sure that his team finished at the end of the 80s and by 1990 it was a different team

Does anyone remember John from around year 2000 or so.. he used to drive a silver estate.
We used to give him the keys to access our roof to save him cutting the place up and costing us more money on locks

It's not interesting nowadays not like the 80s in those days no one was left alone like certain stations now and in the 80s a station 3 year old was considered old
