Please explain, what is bait exactly?

Ofcom know about stations before they are mentioned on the internet and they own radio's so they are very capable of hearing what's on.

...Whether someone on DS mentions where they think a station is coming from and moan about it online isn't going to affect anything. They are more than likely to already know where it is anyway and only act on complaints these days anyway and not via forums.

It's only bait if someone posts a specific rig site location but this is mainly due to rig thieves. Anyone can find a radio station. All you need is a radio with a DB meter along with some common sense!

As mentioned above Ofcom just go off complaints these days due to their funding cuts. They may read the forum but I very much doubt they will take any action if someone posts stating they heard a station on 94.2 for example.

Hope this helps :tup

Usually it's the one rig wonders that bleat on about something or other being "bait", after all, how can you expect a station to have listeners if nobody knows you're on?

Try asking Ofcom via the Freedom of information act and ask them how many of the raided stations were busted due to internet radio forums I'm sure they will be more than happy to oblige :?

Yeah it looks like it's been changed but I've not changed anything so it might have been another admin.

Bait to who Ofcom or Thief's ? Seeing as Ofcom only seem to take stations off because of complaints I highly doubt it's bait to ofcom.

Lol at this thread!! I think instead of pointing fingers at Forums, People should watch what they post on Social media.
I've seen over 10 posts in the last year with blatent locations as people tag themselves in the studio, or on the roof whilst putting up an antenna.
I even pointed it out to a station not long ago, got a nasty message back so i gave them the full studio address as it appeared on facebook. Post got removed but no thanks.
Bottom line is anyone can track a TX if you have half a brain, forum posts or not.

Exactly. How many people double check the EXIF metadata before they post a picture to an image site or web server? Often phones insert full GPS co-ordinates if the user hasn't turned the feature off. Not every image uploading site strips the EXIF data out of the file.
