CZE 7C RDS

I am starting up a small scale fm radio station but do not know how to add rds to my radio station I'm using the cze7c transmitter please help!

Use a 192khz soundcard with mpxgen, JMPX or Stereotool, but be careful as the power of the TX can kill a USB port if it's too close so try and get a really long (and good) aux cable and put the audio source far away.

Am I missing something?

You can't feed MPX directly into a chinese audio input. It has to be inserted into the circuit.

You both know how to do that? Please explain!

That would be great Teckniqs. If anyone has already worked it out, they didn't post it online.

There are 1000s of these little boxes running all over the US and many of the users want to know how to add rds.

The closest they got, online at least, was a college student who undertook to do it as his course project.

He couldn't work it out and made the mistake of asking the tutor.

The tutor closed him down lol.

OK so I have just been informed that they do NOT work with the CZE type transmitters but the person I know who got RDS working on his one was using one of these...

....I noticed on the eBay description it says this:
"Japan ROHM motherboard for the next-generation integrated NC FM stereo radio chip PLL BH1415F"

I can feed MPX via JMPX, mpxgen or Stereotool with a 192khz soundcard going to the audio input of the 7C.

That's the latest version of the 1415 chip. I have a box with one of those in it lying around....will give it a try later.

Tbh, I'll fall off my seat if it works. Will report back this pm.

I get a standard RDS signal, like so. The spike at 57khz is internal in the rig, but it RDS and stereo decodes fine on my normal radios.

Well it did with that version of the Chinese transmitter I posted up, I have seen it with my own eyes.

Thanks g33ky, that's great!

I found user spectraman on YouTube has done a review of that rig. I so wanted his voice to stop but somehow made it to the end before going insane.

He confirms it uses the latest BH1415F chip so I'm going to run my rds encoder thro one of them later today. Looks like I'll be falling off my chair haha.

Ok teckniqs....maybe I'll just dive on the floor now lol.

Just for info the earlier BH1415K based rigs weren't able to do this. I also bought the later version out of interest but it didn't occur to me to try rds.

You'd think the manufacturer would advertise this feature, wouldn't you?

Probably not to be honest, they aren't designed to be used as a professional broadcast transmitter with RDS so I doubt they have even tried.

I get that.

And as you say it, I'm thinking they're now producing rigs with rds capability. They wouldn't sell any if people knew you could run rds through the audio input for just a few $.
