"No RSL listed" has been happening a lot on the Ofcom site over the last few years when a new RSL has popped up, so I wouldn't completely rule it out just yet....

Or8.. As mix fm says no rsl listed and as teckniqs said they aren't always listed.. I had a look at the com site and there's one that's due on, at the end of march or beginning of April but that's a long time to leave a tx on i woulda thought.. It is really quiet and i have to turn the volume up fully to be able to hear anything. There's no audio and i don't think it's connected to any electrical source.

Well you "ovs" know something we all don't then to be able to say for sure that it couldn't possibly have been an RSL testing. :tup

Rumour has it that the first Ramadam Radio shutdown has already happened!

It's amazing: OFCOM actually doing their proper job for once - keeping the inflammatory rabble-rousing religious rubbish off the air if they're too extreme (as they mostly are!)

This finished after Ramadan, then went off a couple of weeks after. Then came back on two days later and is still on, blank and mono like it was before Ramadan. Very strong signal, does all three bars on my radio :whistle

I’ve got 87.7 blank carrier here as I’m driving near Ikea near Leeds. Also a station playing Bhangra versions of chart music on 87.9. Presenter is talking half in English, half a foreign language, his CD’s keep skipping so must be scratched haha very odd. 87.7 is quite a strong signal and 87.9 is absolutely booming out

Or8 Ionosphere.. The 87.9 is radio club Asia and it does boom out i must say. I think it's from leeds. Can receive it on 87.95, but not 87.9 coz of the blank carrier on 87.7..They used to be on 97.8 a few years ago. I think they use Dutch stuff too!

Yeah their signal was really strong and got stronger when I drove towards leeds, their RDS popped up when I was closer to leeds too so their TX site must be in the leeds area. 87.7 carrier wasn't on this evening when I was in the area though :tup

The bradford one is on 87.7 at the moment been on afew weeks, so maybe the sheffield one will be back on air too, I think there must be a waiting list for this, so you maybe get one after the other, more than one station in one area, it's not yet ramadan yet. ;) The owner of it I think they are on this forum

Yes they used either Dutch 300w or Jel 150w and good antennas from Innov8 antenna design or The 5/8 Ringo from Sandpiper.

They used to be absolutely hammered by Ofcom, often 2 or 3 times in a week and a eventually gave up due to that.

They are now running Radio Dance Asia on the Leeds & Bradford small scale DAB multiplexes.

I did used to get it on 97.8, I don’t know if 88.2 was a better frequency or not, you still have out of area transmitters 100khz away, sutton coldfield on 88.3/97.9, supposed they used abit of power to over come it. Wonder if fever didn’t like it, seemed to be lots of compeition there for these kinds of stations, it was pirate once, it was apni awaaz, kb fm must be something different https://www.thepiratearchive.net/apni-awaaz/
