48v @ 12 Amps is 576 watts.

It's £50 with the tax. Digikey is too big a company to pass off knock-offs, meanwell themselves would lawyer them right up the arse, viciously and unlubricated. I got a similar supply from enigma shop for that price 2 or 3 years ago, £50 seems good and about right to me. Tec1 is right in what he says - 200W max, any more and it'd be sweating like a paedophile in a barney suit...

I bought about a dozen of those from Digikey. They are certainly genuine. I used them with some BLF177 PAs. If you buy a larger quantity, you get a discount!

The one above I bought (rsp-320-48) is capable of 6.7A at 48V.

I'm planning on using it to run a 100W MRF101 Amp that spec's say draws 3 > 3.5A, so it's running at around 50% of its capabilities.

@Albert - I checked the quantity purchases, & the price drops to circa £38 when 10 are ordered, to around £28 when 250 are ordered as you quite rightly say.

Digikey are by far the best price I've found for these, & shipping is free on orders over £30.

The whole thing about needing 50% more current than your drawing is all bollocks. That’s because you’ve been buying fake power supply’s that don’t put out anywhere near they’re advertised rating. Buy a decent one and you can run them up to 90%.

Yes it will definitely be fine as long as it can handle the amount off current it needs. Put your multimeter on Amps mode and short circuit the psu. It will show the maximum it can draw. Then try a cheap China one rated at 6 amps or sumink. Some of them don’t even get up to 2a it’s shocking how crap they are.

Some China ones are ok though. You just have to find the decent ones. Usually just keep well away from the ones without fans.

Why not ? Obviously it’s only for a few seconds.

Because that's not how switch mode power supplies work. If you had actually tried it on a high quality switching supply yourself before advising others to do it, then you'd see why. I think you're getting confused with how the current limit works on things like bench power supplies.
Also, an understanding of Ohms Law would tell you why such a test provides no useful information.

If you really want to test a power supply, you need an active load. They are cheap nowadays.
