Re: Post gets lost when hitting submit
The cure is simple -
- Stop using Windoze. It's crap, bloated, insecure and slow, and prone to picking up any virus crap that's going around.
- Stop using Microshaft Web Browsers - they've NEVER got one right, and they're utterly insecure.
- Learn how to do some Real Computing™ using Linux, BSD, or (if you're really stupid and have a whole lot of money) Apple

Re: Post gets lost when hitting submit
It could be doing something to do with the new PHPBB but I've cleared some cache and changed a few settings so hopefully it will sort it. If it doesn't then the forum software may need an upgrade/downgrade.

Re: Post gets lost when hitting submit
As far as I can see, the latest PHPBB versions are virtually the same as the earlier versions - particularly in the way they handle postings.
I'm assured by the developers that it's entirely stable.

I've had trouble too. It seems to happen if you log in (sometimes not easy) and then hit a link with an &sid= in the query.
I've had quite a few 'form invalid' errors too (I believe that is related).
A mismatch between cookies and the &sid in the link - strange that no php session cookie is used.

Re: Post gets lost when hitting submit
The "form invalid" error appears if you take more than a minute or two to complete a post. All you have to do is submit it again, and it's added to the board. This is a known problem with this forum software - it's part of the code that was originally intended to limit the maximum size of postings! This has been present in the last couple of dozen iterations of the software. There is a small hack to turn it off - I'll see if I can find it.

I just press CTRL+A and CTRL+C before hitting submit. I don't even have to think about it, it's become a habit.
