DAB processing.

Hello Hello, Hope everyone is well. I am exited to announce that i am now live on DAB+ and planning to extend very soon. A little issue i’m encountering though. Do FM processors not work on DAB? I have tried both a DSPX-FM, and an IDT FM processor, the DSPX is relatively new, whereas the IDT FM is an old unit, but i’ve not been able to find anything that sounds as clean and as crisp as that processor. I have tried inputting the XLR outputs from the processors into a sonifex PS-SEND. But i always get the same result, over sharpened crackling type of noise. it’s very annoying to listen to, but when these same processors are running on FM, their quality is unmatched. What do you think the issue could be, or can you just outright not use FM processors on DAB! I’ve turned off pre-emphasis but still get the same effect. If someone could advise. Thanks

Turn off the final clipper. The last stage should be a final peak limiter before it goes to the codec.

Right. I’ll try this and let you know what happens. Thanks

Also, in my experience the peak level into the encoder should not exceed -1.5dBFS or it will clip anyway.

East lancashire MUX, starts from colne and reaches all the way to blackpool. They’ve got good coverage. Also i’ve upgraded to a optimod 6200s, the DSPX just wasn’t doing it for me. Also, What is the level it should be for DAB? Engineer was saying -4Ddbfs on my webstream. But it seems a bit low to me? What would you suggest!
