Can I combine two MRF9180 170w Chinese amps for 340w?

Hey guys,

Been a long time since I've posted hope you're all doing fine.
So I have two of these amps built and tested and for a while I was wondering how easy it would be two combine them both to get a much more powerful output with the two
I know I would need to put them both into a single low pass filter with thicker coils, but I would really like to find out the way to combine both the input and output please to use them both as one single amp for a lot bigger power.
Has anyone done this or know the way of doing it they'd care to share please? I'd like to find out the way to combine these and build it.
This is just for experimental purposes as I'm very interested.

Many kind thanks. Elo :tup

The "traditional" way of doing this is to use a "Wilkinson Splitter / Combiner". Take a look at:

https://www.electronics-notes.com/artic ... kinson.php

The technique was developed in the 1960s, and is still widely used. I've combined as many as eight 1600W FET power amplifiers like this for a 12kW rig! More usually, I've run a pair of MRF151G amplifiers, and have used a monitoring system to turn the power off to a defective PA, and switch the rig to mono (to keep much the same service area without noisy fringe coverage problems). The beauty of doing it this way is that it's easily possible to drop to half power without complex, expensive (and unreliable) coaxial relays!
