Getting a weak station playing d and b just after 5am, seemed to be there for a bit before disappearing back into the noise

Well hunted down northeast, could have been E layer Dx from London as a possibility ? Maybe, been some activity from Europe recently not pirate though.

It was probably Wk-End from Northants, there was a bit of an FM signal lift last night and 87.9 already reaching into Cambridge a good 50 miles away so high chance could have been them.

Good info techniqs, I always assume when I see someone posting with that name on here that it was a London station. One day I might just get a deceent receiving antenna put up outdoors for FM. could be interetsing for lifts and E layer stuff. At the moment the neigbour is producing her own broadband pirate transmissions giving me 15dB of hiss all over the band with some crappy cheap device. I put tecsun to wall and it hits 59dB. Upstairs is better though.

The fog came in boxing day evening it was very dense, some places afew miles away did’t have it all, the radio was abit quieter yeserday, usually the fog is a sign of ducting. I do think its that station I was hearing, I heard gat dacor passion about 12 yeserday, may of been something different unless it was peaking up, something there weaker later on. Listened to the stream seemed to be playing simliar stuff, to what I was hearing this morning, I was abit unsure were it was from, I saw someone was wanting to switch on a transmitter in nothingham, would of been strange if they’ve gone up there, that explains it all.
Quite lucky here as we don’t have many nieghbours, so its quiet, apart from the old alarm box in the loft, 20  odd year old power supply sometimes goes crazy and the interference that kicks in every evening at 5:45 for some reason.

It is a good location here I always though a huge hill would be better, I rememeber when I put my aerial up here I could hear derby mixing with three counties radio, there is quite a good long path, a couple of 100watts would come up during tropo. Up a big hill you would probably just get radio derby on 104.5, sutton coldfield on 90.5 instead of a dutch under tropo, does allow stuff through 87.9 is a clear frequency, you might get it better on a big hill, there is a dutch station that users kws. I did always used to wonder if you'd get a more consistent signal of something traveling long distance under tropo been lower, getting rid of interfering stations helps reduced signal strength of other stations, theres no answer to the question suppose the waves are bouncing off the atmosphere. 8-)
