Hi Pirates

I am looking for a station that wants to be broadcasted in the Cardiff Area on FM. I have made the transmitter and Dipole. Just working out what frquencies we will use. In Wales we have these big brown things called Mountains. They are great for Transmitters at 1000 Meters above sea level. I predict we can cover the whole of Cardiff on 15 Watts. Getting DJ's here that want to do Pirate is not easy so we are going to start with a couple of hours Friday night and then stream a London Station for the rest of the weekend. However it would be good if the station can cooperate so they know they will get shout outs from Cardiff and are transmitting there. Its got to be good for your station to advertise that you are broadcasting in England and Wales.

Looking at starting in 3 weeks time to allow for test transmittions.

Looking at the area in relation to the transmitter site we are going to be testing Yagi Beam, Horizontal Dipole and Vertical. I think the Vertical will waste 75% of the power going the wrong way. So will probably be a 3 element Yagi.

The uplink will be cellular so you will need an internet radio page.

You might try Laser Hot Hits, great station, great shows, partners link for broadcasters on their website.

Just out of curiosity, do these "big brown things" have power cables up them? Or are you carrying batteries up 1000m asl

Not sure how this would benefit any station in London as you dont have a built up fan base fella.

i remember cardiff a couple of 10 story blocks just outside the town centre. your gonna need more then 15 watts. maybe a fifty watt to start u off see how you get on.. not much has happened pirate wise in wales for years...

This is a test for wave 108, newest dance station for Cardiff, 'blue yellow purples hills plays', noticed it was pills not hills, good luck anyway, I would be interested in hearing the test transmission if it did have frequency announcements. Seems to me that pirates can not give out frequency announcements, have any relationship with the area their broadcasting in/running adverts, makes the fm transmitter abit null and void. The ones that seem to run forever are the ones that have no connection to the place their in/outside of uk jurisdiction, FIP been one, the power was also meant to be low 10w, wouldn’t overloaded nearby tv’s, had no adverts no connection, suppose wasn’t bothering anyone. There were boarder blasters in the past, no boarders close to wales so noway to transmit into it.

How did you hear this, is there an SDR down there? I'd be interested to hear it too as I worked down there when I was younger (early 90s) and never heard much pirate activity.

Hi Guys just an update on testing. There is a mountain that has a hotel up top. From there we have line of sight to the whole of Cardiff. 15 watts did get out fine but we have gone for 70 watts to push through the buildings when it hits land. Height is everything. We could even hear it 50 miles away. We want to bring Drum and Bass to Cardiff again.

You get to go out to an Extra 1,000,000 ears. On test transmittions after 4 hours we had 10 people txt shout outs. Loads of Students in Cardiff. We have line of sight up there to the whole of Cardiff and it travels to Bristol too. Admit that we dont have a fan base but what do you have to lose. Im not asking for anything other than permission to transmit your stream over here.

had a few messages re how we link up to transmitter. Its done by rocket internet site and the transmitter relays that. The transmitter has wifi connection to nearby hotel.

I am not an expert but might be best to edit that info out, either a mod or yourself, no need to give vital info.

No need Cardiff is a big place

Nice to see the tests went well.
Used to rx Garage FM well from Cardiff, over 20 years ago and
my receive was over 50 miles away.

Will have to have a tune about.

Think I know the place, went to a wedding there a few years back if its where im thinking off. Going out towards Caerphilly. Big masts up on the hill above
