Please find our response to your questions below:
1) How much money is spent annually on combating illegal broadcasts and pirate
radio since 1 January 2009?
Annual expenditure for combating illegal broadcasting is set out below. Please note that
the only figures we have available are for financial years, running 1 April – 31 March.
• £1.15 million in financial year 2009/10.
• £1.17 million in financial year 2010/11. The 2010/11 (April to February actual plus
March forecast).
These figures include staff costs, travel and subsistence, vehicle costs, legal costs and
charges for other outsourced services, for example, forensic analysis and transcription
services connected to prosecutions.
2)How many members of staff are employed in combating illegal broadcasts and
pirate radio stations since 1 January 2009?
Combating illegal broadcasting across the UK involves an equivalent of twenty full time
staff.
The Investigations Team are primarily responsible for countering illegal broadcasting.
However, members from other teams are also involved on an occasional basis when
required. The calculation has been made on a full-time-equivalent basis by identifying
those colleagues who have undertaken work related to illegal broadcasting and then
calculating a percentage of their total working time apportioned to it.

Interesting. There budget is next to nothing really. They have the budget of a small business and have to basically cover the whole country including the capital. I mean 20 lots of wages, what's that if say they all earn pfff 20k a year? That's 400k already just paying people.
