90.4 is northern vibes radio but seems to be a silent carrier these days

Seems a bit pointless really unless something is stopping them from being able to play audio or they can't get back up to their rig. How long has it been silent for?

it is, i might be wrong as I can't get them at home only on the way to work, and it always seems to be a dead carrier whenever I listen!

They have been off and on most days an hour or two here and there. Mostly just the carrier signal though. Never hear a DJ using the mic or any adverts etc. I wonder if it's just someone like me pratting about!!

everything seems fine on their stream, however the stream title is weekend desire. maybe they are relaunching?

I can't seem to get fresh anymore. .Have they gone down in power? Used to get em just as clear as rad freq...

not heard them in over a year, theres just peoples and northern vibes in Leeds, with no nitty gritty!, they do transmit 24/7 i'll say that for them even if nv is silent most of the time. I heard it playing beltram yesaday so it was on air, hearing music on it right now.

I'm sure if Jason Taylor or any of the bosses of them where about they would come on here and give everyone a dressing down for sure, they have transmitters that get beyond the street

Lol...I know what ya mean...I trip massive.... ...I don't know what power freq used use but shock was telling me he used 75 when he was doing nrg years ago and that got out all over..I suppose you could have 5-6 watts on a pretty high point and out do 100 with a poorly tuned aerial. ..Good luck to anyone with low power but get height and tuned rig and aerial and its all bisto! ...

yup he'd never been so excited when he heard it coming up over the humber bridge, think that was radio frequency. Vixen 87 an rsl used to get into sheffield, that was up on a hill.

fresh is on air weekends n and have been for just for over year....

Used to be a pirate down my way who would put their aerials up on all the tower blocks locally. One of the rig blokes sometimes did shows and one day he revealed the station only got out about 17 miles but could be heard up as far as Dartford and past Medway towns nearing London purely cos they got height.

its not always about height, when I had my nrg kits 4w testing, afew years ago, I heard it 12 miles away at sea level, the aerial was only about 45meters above ground, even low power can go a fair distance, i'd say anything above a watt into a good aerial could travel to the horizon, of course you won't get any kind coverage.

I guess there is also the line of sight factor too and if your in a heavily built up area then I spose signals won't go that far? unless there is another way? thats what I hear of when some people I know have talked about pirate stations getting out further than they are sposed to. Im still sorta learning about it all really, Im a listener and not someone who sets up.

signals don’t go well throught buildings, when I was testing my 1w, the coverage in town was only 600 meters, auto seek tuning would go over the top of it after then. used to listen at my grandmas, at 1km away, I had to really hold my aerial in the air to get a signal, when I went into open country, 2 miles away, the signal was twice as strong.

When you have really good line of sight, going up a hill, 1w can sound more like 5w. Often round here even on small hills its not uncommon to beable to see over to hills and places that are 20-25 miles away. When I would go on hoilday I would take my little transmitter with me, it was often a different story, I only had line of sight for about 2 miles until you reached the clif edge, thats as far as it would go. Think it would be the same If you where down in a valley guess you could only transmit to the top but not over the top.

So I guess even if your in a built up area, as long as the aerial is out in the open, the signal can travel over the roof tops, away to stop that happening would be to use an indoor telescopic aerial directly the back of the transmitter.

90.4 raided today by ofcom ... heada up peaple

I dunno if they were took off or what.....but summat else is due to come on soon I believe..just keep checking the dial apparently.

Yea frequancy is on its way back
