Slam Radio 92.0

A new station has popped up today playing Reggae/Hip Hop/RnB etc called Slam FM 92.0, strong in SW London.

Nothing here in south east suburbs, can only hear a very poor Nu Sound from east london

Only R3 from Reading in slough on 92 50 watt relay there

Hemdean is actualy 1kW but I think it's directional so maybe just 50w in your direction?

Well yesterday there was a nasty hum on 92.0 and it was +/- 2Khz

Are you sure its only meant to be a relay for Reading? That would also be why Station fm 89.8 is so hard to get on the west side of London?

It looks to serve Reading and the surrounding towns in Berkshire and Hampshire.

Back in the early 90,s you could pick up station 89.8 in Reading so the BBC must have got the freq,s later

Yeah it's one of those awkward places over lapping Oxford, London and Isle Of Wight TX's when all 3 of those services are no doubt a bit patch driving around the centre so a relay was imminent.

I lived in reading in the 1980/s and I was lucky Radio 4 hadn't got the 94.4 fm transmitter yet otherwise I would never had heard horizon radio on 94.5 after solar radio took over their 102.5 fm slot after horizon closed down in September 1985 to apply for a license that never happened in December 1985 fame fm came on with some of horizons DJs but it only lasted 4 months
