Case/box for an NRG board + maybe alternative TXes

Post by benoliver999 » Sat Mar 26, 2016 9:44 pm

I got to test out an NRG pro III tx and liked it, might get a IV for my rig. However, if I were to get one I'd want a case for it.

Where to you buy your enclosures for them? I'm only finding ones that are way too big or just a bit too small.

Also by the way I'm open to suggestions for a TX. The specs I'm shopping for are:

- 1-15W
- Something that doesn't shit on other frequencies
- £120 or less
- Not worried about power as much as I am quality

The NRG seems like a good candidate.

There are tons of cheaper options on eBay but it's really hard to get a read on what is decent and what isn't. This is not for widespread use, we only broadcast over about 3/4 of a mile, but it's on 24/7 and I don't like doing a half arsed job.

Cant go wrong with an NRG, apart from size!
Id Go for an aluminium case, gives good shielding, easy to work with and reasonably rugged!
You need to decide how you are going to power it? external DC supply is easiest but if youd like it to run directly from mains? you need to factor that into your dimensions!
I am as stupid as I look! :|

Thanks for that, I'll look into pcs too - they seem to be a little pricier but have a smaller form factor.
