Suprised someone hasn't snapped this up yet, proper bargain.. Finally found an amp that might run for 48 hours too.

The very last thing an "ex-BBC Engineer" would use as an exciter is one of those Chinese noise generators!

There was a station on 92.2 a few years ago around T.Wells, possibly it's from that...?

It may well have been built by an ex-BBC engineer. They could have been a drainage engineer, production engineer, hydraulics...
