Link Receiver
This isn't anything startlingly original, but it works well! I'll put a nice PCB layout up for it if anyone's interested.

Same here Albert, I’d appreciate a PCB layout thanks.

Re: Link Receiver
Yes, they are the coils in the mixer and IF section. They were made by Toko but now discontinued. They are the Toko 10k series.

Re: Link Receiver
The Toko equivalents are still available from Mainline in the UK and plenty of shops in Europe. The ceramic filter (SFE) is available from the same place.
Board layout to follow.

Re: Link Receiver
Stone me - another supplier gone. Mainline used to be quite useful.
The last coils I got were from bec.co.uk. I found two suppliers in France and one in the Netherlands, but they don't seem to stock these coils any more....

Re: Link Receiver
I think Mainline are still around but became "Mainline group" a few years ago. They seem to have ditched a lot of the surplus goodies they were famous for.
Those coils are becoming hard to find now, hence me asking in the first place. Actually BEC do have stock but they are asking £15 each which means they don't really want anyone to buy any.

Re: Link Receiver
I think the company had a big fire years back and a lot of gear was lost, they used to have lots of goodies like Mitsumi satcans and small c&k gunnplexers
Mainline are on Ebay too, lots of stuff available

Re: Link Receiver
KACS K586HM is a simple 10.7MHz discriminator can with unloaded Q of 100 and 82pF internal capacitor.
KACS 6400A is one of those orange-screw cans (originally meant for 2nd or 3rd IF stage), and if I'm not mistaken, has P:S turns ratio 6:1 or 7:1, 47pF internal cap and claimed Qu of 80 minimum. Xicon 42IF122-RC might be the closest thing to a cross as far as obtainable parts go; the same IF can is also suitable to use as the quadcoil (IC pins 9, 10). Parallel resistor value might need to be slightly adjusted then for intended audio level ( or not at all).
Hope that helps in finding the right substitute parts.

Re: Link Receiver
Tank = LC resonant circuit. So, K586HM is an adjustable LC tank, yeah. That is, with shielding and good temperature stability. But the other Toko can is not merely an adjustable tank, it's an IF xformer with resonant primary side.
---
The one on the picture with orange screw cup core might be good for 10,7MHz IF stage or mixer output coil. But then again, different (non-Japanese?) manufacturers use different color schemes, so it's just an unreliable hint about the intended application.
