This is the Albert I like. Informative, interesting stories, not the negativity. Would be cool if you put ,more effort into writing these stories. I would like to hear more.

Sunrise (the Asian station) and LGR have pirate backgrounds as well.

Re: Rinse fm
That's true lgr and sunrise did they were called sina radio but choice fm had no pirate connections they took on some former pirate djs but the management were outside black business people and it was a surprise at the time because no pirate applications got it (south London 1990 award for a music and community station )

Re: Rinse fm
There are actually more than two (unless you're just talking about London). The ones I know of are Rinse FM, Kane FM and Funky SX.zoostorm wrote: ↑Mon May 21, 2018 12:45 pm Rinse probably has 3 listeners on FM as the current location of the tx is shite.
It however has been a success story for an underground dance/urban station broadcasting legally. Never got why Albert hates so much on the dance pirates going legal, especially when there are at least two stations that have successfully transferred to going straight.

The original Xfm was a former pirate in London, called Q102

I thought I would give them a call to find out what's happening but their 0207 landline contact number just rings once and cuts off.

Unbelievable it's been off longer than the average pirate after a raid

Re: Rinse fm
Surely it's a breach of their license conditions to be either dead air or off air. I've got a feeling that they have lost their FM licence. The DAB+ is still on though which is strange. Funny that they went off air the day after I had heard strong language aired on one of the shows before watershed. It's also strange how there's no mention publicly as to why they've been off for so long. Rinse will be coming back as pirate soon

There isn't a Watershed for radio, just TV.FMVETERAN wrote: ↑Fri Jun 01, 2018 6:38 pm Surely it's a breach of their license conditions to be either dead air or off air. I don't think it would go just like that they would get a final warning first

Re: Rinse fm
Why would they bother 'upgrading their equipment' if they'd lost their license??

Re: Rinse fm
Seems a bit strange to be off this long! ....Surely it would make a lot more sense if moving it to have the other set up ready and switch off the Peregrine House site ready to switch the new site straight on air without a big long gap.
Makes no sense, maybe they have lost their license but news like that gets around quickly and not heard a sausage.

Probably not lost the license like I said it would have been in the radio today paper and the stations that get into trouble are always mentioned and rinse hasn't been

Not according to Ofcom. This was last updated yesterday (15th June) and it says they are still licensed until 2021.

Incredible that they have been gone so long but we would have heard if the license was lost like I said before would have been in the radio today paper by now and all the stations that have had their knuckles rapet have been metioned and rinse have not
