I use 50Ω coax all the time for receiving and even 50Ω aerials.

It doesn't really matter for receiving, just use 50 Ohm coax and you get the benefit of being able to do a cheeky TX if you accidentally go to the effort of plugging in a load of TX gear and turning it on. You'll likely get more loss from the transformer than you will from the mismatch for receiving.
