Re: pirate news 2020 london
.... pirate radio is about broadcasting on the dial, (fm) since the internet popped up anyone & everyone is a dj, on social media, the originals are the ones still broadcasting today, there are the legal ex pirates that have fm or dab licences. but they will tell you it aint the same buzz, back in the good old days before tunein radio - onlineradiobox; simple switch on tune in to the station you liked, if you could pick them up... nowdays its easy log on the net, or one of the many ways u can now listen. i.e faceacke - twitch tv, the old skool djs will tell u the same, been there done that...

Re: pirate news 2020 london
But the article isn't about dj skills, it's about music relevance.
There's a great quote in there - Pirate fm stations only play big peoples music. I never thought of DnB, Jungle, House or Garage as big peoples music but it's a great analogy. And so true.
If you're aware of a pirate fm station, or dj, repping today's underground music scene, please provide details. I really want to know there's something out there.

Tbh I think "underground music" is a mostly a thing of the past with the rise of the internet. Since it spreads so much further with it, genres don't stay "underground" for very long, some even get airplay on mainstream stations. Back before the days of on-demand media you'd only hear Grime for example on pirates or specialist events, but nowadays its unknown one week then #1 the next.Polecat wrote: ↑Mon Apr 13, 2020 11:15 am But the article isn't about dj skills, it's about music relevance.

Re: 103
Appreciate what you're saying g33ky but I don't think it detracts from the point made in the article.
Those online stations are part of the new music scene and they think FM is for old people lol.
