Ramadan stations
I have noticed that some of the usual stations have not come on this year like the Ramadan in Slough isn't on this year

Re: Ramadan stations
It's not like they really need another one for 28 days when they've already got Asian Star 101.6.

Re: Ramadan stations
Picking up 87.9 in the clear, also 87.7 in the clear though not as strong, clearer reception then any pirate round here! think 87.9 is Huddersfield, 87.7 either Leeds or Bradford..

I've never heard any of them down here so it looks like we don't have enough call for them in my area. (Sussex south coast)

Re: Ramadan stations
Friend of mine has built a number of quick cheap and nasty VFO Band 1 rigs. They are modulated with white noise. They're battery-powered and have wire aerials - they fool the less than entirely bright Ramadan operators into believing that their links have failed. The white noise is preferable to the material that these stations broadcast.
"Why is my rig humming?"
"Because it doesn't know the words!"

Northern England and most of the Midlands is lousy with them. Many of them don't seem to be getting out as well as usual this year.... The band seems noisier, somehow.....

All that white noise is it Albert?Albert H wrote:Northern England and most of the Midlands is lousy with them. Many of them don't seem to be getting out as well as usual this year.... The band seems noisier, somehow.....
The only one with an RSL in S London is on 87.9 out of Tooting. No chance to hear over here squeezed between The Rock 87.8 and Pulse 88.0.
Wait, just checked and The Rock isn't on right now. Hope they'll be back later!
PS. Is there a normal allocated power output for such RSLs?

Yes. Most of them are limited to 25 Watts ERP and the antenna has to be no higher than 10m HAAT.

True. But it's not the first time it's fallen off the dial on 87.8. I did wonder if it's just someone relaying the signal as the station's on 92.6 elsewhere. Time will tell.famefm wrote:Rock might have had a compaint or worse 878 isn't going to be easy in an RSL licence time
