Any fake c1971 that work ?
Looking for some fakes that actually work. Iv bought a few from China, they just heat up and draw loads of current. I’ve checked for swapped legs aswell.

A properly working fake device completely defeats the entire purpose of the fake in the first place.

Why does it ? It’s just a replica.

Iv got some other fake bits that work very nice. Just sometimes they put the legs the wrong way round.

Re: Any fake c1971 that work ?
Why buy fakes from China when the real thing is available from many suppliers at quite reasonable prices? I needed some 5 Watt drivers, and found the 2SC1971s I bought from a London-based TV component specialist shop were fine. They charged me £19.40 for ten of them. They're Mitsubishi branded, and in my normal broadband circuit, they develop just over 5 Watts for 550mW of drive at 12V supply, so I'm quite sure that they are the genuine part.
You just have to get stock lists from a few companies, and you'll be surprised. A lot of the "rare" RF parts you need are quite easily available.

If 2sc1971 is fake then try a 2n3866 this might work.

Getting old but am sure i swapped a 1972 for a 1971 many moons ago and all was good.
at a quick look, same case both npns up to 175megs 1971 got 6w rating with 10 gain and 1972 got lower gain of 7.5 but higher power rating of 14w

The 2N3866 is good for ~1 Watt and can give you around 12dB gain at 28V supply and has an Ft of 500MHz. The 2SC1971 is rated for 6 Watts RF and ~10 dB gain at 13.5V and is only useful to about 200 MHz. Completely different devices.Electronically wrote: ↑Tue Apr 28, 2020 9:06 pm If 2sc1971 is fake then try a 2n3866 this might work.

Yup Albert was just an idea if there is only fake ones around. I know it is not same chip but a just though if he's stuck he could swap it for this till he finds his genuine chip. Just temporary at moment.Albert H wrote:The 2N3866 is good for ~1 Watt and can give you around 12dB gain at 28V supply and has an Ft of 500MHz. Dönberg have the 2SC1971 for about a fiver ex-vat, they don't deal in any fake shite:

Enigma have tested and verified fakes for a fiver, or genuine old stock for £6.50.
