Streaming to android phone ( link)
I was wondering what app /software I can use on my android phone that is providing a link via Icecast to my tx.
Of course I want something that isnt going to have me clambering back on the roof to reset the phone ..

There used to be a good one called webkey.cc but that no longer works, so that's a very good question??

Re: Streaming to android phone ( link)
The last time I tried this method it worked OK. We were using an HTC phone (desire X?) on 3. Some of the older networks (O2) using mixed topologies have a habit of dropping your data session down to GPRS or EDGE which can cause problems, so you need one which will only ever give you a 3G, HSDPA or 4G session, nothing slower. I'd say all things considered, this is more reliable than using wifi. You can also configure some streaming apps to restart if the phone crashes and reboots, or restart the phone under certain circumstances.
If you have problems due to RF from the rig, those will most likely be due to the field taking out the electronics in the phone, rather than the network signal itself, especially if you stay away from networks which use the lower bands.
Using a phone does have cons however, unless it's at a midpoint, you're going to need your stereo/rds coders at the main TX and therefore you will face the cost of losing them. Also if you want to remotely control your TX, link frequencies, RDS text etc, you're going to need an embebbed solution rather than a phone.

I've just heard that as from the 1st of Feb 2015 3 won't be doing the unlimited data for £15 on paug all you will now get is 3 gig of data. If you have a contract on 3 that's the only time you will get unlimited data.

Re: Streaming to android phone ( link)
The DJ's on my station are gonna be streaming from their own places as we don't have a studio. When I link to the TX with a smartphone will I still need to run it through a compressor/limiter and then the TX?
