Well I think Freeze was the best ever (personally) but as with everything, its subjective and depends on the era you grew up in. For me I was a pirate fanatic from like 99 onward and I could argue Deja or Kool etc was the best (I don't class Rinse & Flex as they're now legit but Rinse are obviously clear of everyone lol) or if you were around in the early 90s you'd argue it was someone else.
Quite honestly, I didn't even like a lot of the music on True that much, much preferred Unkown, Passion, Point Blank etc as I'm a house head mainly, but I still respect True and the impact they had. They stole so much of the audience from Shine and Subjam and definitely outshone both of those whilst they were on. True was on for about 3 years solidly, as we spoke about on the pod; I cant remember them ever being off more than a day... then sadly they just got hammered so badly at the end, it ultimately died out. I think if you lived around East/North at that time and went out in those circles you'd know just how big they were. They had 2 or 3 rammed venues every week, events abroad etc. I've played on a lot of stations over the years and i can't think of many in my era, that were so successful in such a short period as well as being so consistent with their set up, their reach etc. not to mention the revenue from events. I rate them and was happy to be able to sit and discuss it all with one of the guys in charge.
Anyway folks, I've got some SERIOUS radio legends coming on in the coming episodes, not from True, so keep it locked to the podcast for great content I know you guys will love.
Oh and Episode 5 is out today for those of you who've subscribed, check your feed, a few cool pirate stories in this episode too!!
