PCB Manufacture
Hi all
Which PCB service do you use? The firm that I used to use has got out of the business. I need some fairly basic single and double-sided boards made. I don't mind if they take a couple of weeks to arrive, and I don't care what country the factory is in.

Re: PCB Manufacture
I use Easy EDA for designing the schematics and PCB layout.
But JLC will take any Gerber from any design software.

JLCpcb aaaalll day long!
The first time you order from them it is £2 for 5 boards (as long as they are not too big).
The boards seldom cost more than the postage! I think it's roughly £6 for Royal Mail postage which takes about 2 weeks. DHL postage is quicker but astronomically expensive...

Yes have to agree with JLCPCB. Their website is user-friendly, easy to upload your design and preview PCB's. Plus you get production progress status updates, and fully tracked delivery. 10/10 so far.

Re: PCB Manufacture
I have been using PCBWAY for many years now. Good pcb manufacturing company, takes about a week for them to make the printed circuit boards and a few days in shipping before they arrive.

Re: PCB Manufacture
Has anyone else noticed the new 20% import charges on all orders below £137 from JLC?
I can't remember if that was there before?
I hope I'm completely wrong, but I assume I'll get a letter asking me to pay the charge before delivery is completed?

Hi Zozo,
It's VAT which now has to be added by overseas sellers. It's all part of the Brexit debacle, unfortunately.

Re: PCB Manufacture
Thanks Rev, So have I already been charged or is that charge coming. I need to double check my invoice, but at first glance I didn't notice it in the Sub Total.
[EDIT]
Looking at the bottom line of my invoice and can't see it, so there's an additional charge coming my way soon.
I've just calculated it to be £7.60 charge, so not to bad.

Hi Zozo,
It's JLCPCB that have to add it in, so you shouldn't get another bill. Previously it wasn't added in and sometimes when it arrived in the UK you had to pay the carrier the extra fee - sometimes they seemed to just forget it and you got away with it!

Re: PCB Manufacture
I have not noticed any extra charges on my orders with JLC? But thats not to say i was just complacent when dealing with such a bargain?
I doubt our relationship with the EU effect countries that are outsiders? More likely to be an issue with UK customs!
I remember very well ordering a few BLF177s from the states a few years back, The Post Office refused to deliver the parcel unless i paid a Duty Tax of £17.00

I am as stupid as I look!

Re: PCB Manufacture
Ouch £17.00 customs duty tax, that's harsh. I suppose there's not much we can do when that happens, other than to just pay up.
Your correct with the bargain though, it's a very good price for what you get even with the customs charge.
I noticed the customs notice when I was selecting the delivery option. I'm sure it wasn't there on my last 2 orders.
