Point Blank going onto DAB
Ofcom's latest radio licensing update has 'Point Blank Radio' going onto the Surrey DAB mux. If they are going off 90.2 it will be strange not to see the booming signal around the city.

Wow that's amazing I still think more people would be tuned into 90.2 than dab they have been on it 14 years now ( I know it's not their original frequency ) and it's been on almost all the time why would they swap for the expensive dab when 90.2 probably costs them next to nothing they have had much more luck on there than other pirates on other frequencies and I think this is the first station to go that has a good FM frequency?

Re: Point Blank going onto DAB
Out of interest, how much are these new stations switching to DAB paying for these licences?

Re: Point Blank going onto DAB
Pointblank is the oldest station apart from the reggae stations and I can't think of any of the other stations new to dab that had a consistent fm signal like PB most of the dabs hadn't been on fm for a long time

Re: Point Blank going onto DAB
Have Point Blank vacated 90.2 now then? I could never pick them up clearly here in Bermondsey SE1, but I can hear something on 90.2 at the moment that doesn't match up with Point Blank's internet stream. It's too faint for me to identify it, and it's not Hot Digital on 90.0 or Whoa on 90.4.

Well, considering PointBlank have not made this public on any of their social media, I’m sure they appreciate you gossiping cunts broadcasting it on this forum if in-fact this is the case...
Well done...

It was still on fm on Sunday April 25th when I was last in Windsor with RDS and I would have expected house fm to be next on dab as they can't seem to get a fm frequency that lasts and a few thousand a month for the Surrey dabs

I noticed they've been off 90.2 for a little while, this might explain it.

It's publicly available information, not exactly as if PB told me a secret and I leaked it...
Wonder how long this 'Altern8' will last, doubt their signal is anything compared to the PB signal. I expected whichever station Select is going to be taking off to move to 90.2, but first come first serve I guess.

Some funny comments on here from people who clearly don’t know how the underground radio world operates. I doubt Altern8 have just randomly just jumped on the frequency! Same as Digital Soul “not” randomly just jumping on 99.3 after Select going off!g33ky wrote: ↑Wed May 12, 2021 10:04 pmIt's publicly available information, not exactly as if PB told me a secret and I leaked it...

What he said.
Maybe they'll play back to back Altern8 albums on loop

Digital technology gradually takes over from analogue. Big pirates going digital. Good luck to PB

Re: Point Blank going onto DAB
It's much faster for a station to apply for a DSPS licence from Ofcom which they need to get on a DAB multiplex, which makes it a lot easier for ex pirates to get on air.
The Surrey mux gets out in Berkshire, so not a surprise that they've gone for DAB instead of carrying on. It'll probably be 32k DAB like Release which is already on there.

FM will never be replaced by DAB, it's far too superior compared to DAB.
