There are quite a few London pirates on that Freedab multiplex. Would they apply/pay anything to be on there or are they just relaying stuff they like?

You have to apply and it's between £200 - 100 a month for a 64k stereo stream.

I can confirm it's not on any of the Londons or the Surrey multiplex at present.

Yes, it's a pirate operation in ireland with muxes across the country.

The free DAB reception is absolutely shockingly poor signal wise. Considering the size of Dublin and amount of mountains and high sites it’s unbelievably poor.

I live here now and prefer to listen to the likes of eruption and shine through the internet than the DAB stream in the cities, as it doesn’t break up really, compared to DAB

Can they be tracked easily like FM ? Otherwise they would loose ££££ worth of equipment every time Ofcom came out.

A raid of the freedab setup has already happened, comreg which is the regulator in the south of ireland raided the dublin mux in 2020. Regulators will have the equipment to monitor the various spectrum for activity so presumably all will be as easy as each other to track but that is just a guess.

I would imagine he is setting up for them or something like that? He is on a lot doing his breakfast show , including stations in Birmingham. Remember him in that supplier documetry a few years back. Tower block dreams . Recognised his voice along with catty etc …
