300w Chinese power amp
Seen these knocking around ebay lately and i have to say i'm very tempted...
https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/174431288097 ... 4431288097
Does anyone have any experience with these?
Before anyone knocks it giving it the "Chinese stuff is cheap shite" chat... i've been using the 25w tx version of this and has been working flawlessly for months...
https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/0-25W-Adjust ... Swyv9fUUF0
I'd go as far to say its one of the best tx's ive used (and ive had a fair few). This would also drive the amp no problem as its adjustable 0-25w.
Thoughts?

Those yokes are all over ebay, in some of other vendors pictures you can see three fans, so the "temperature controlled air cooling" part means the fans only switch on when it's toasty:

For me, I would like my £350 notes more than a (potentially) suspect amp. There is very little information that you would really like to see before buying, to me this is quite deliberate to keep the item "as described" - so if it's hot, sproggy, drinks electricity and is delicate you're stuck. It is in a very handsome quality looking case...

I’ve requested pictures from the vendor.
With regards to fans, it’s the same with the 25w rig, fans only come on when over a certain temperature, however I have always added external fans to my rigs, the 25w never goes above 34c. Same goes for my current 100w Veronica amp.

Re: 300w Chinese power amp
isn't 500US dollar a LOT of money for such a (Chinese) amp?
I guess that a well known builder on this forum can build you a better quality 300w AMP for less.

True that may be but I’ve tried doing business on the forum a few times and never worked out, I’d rather pay the extra on eBay for peace of mind

** UPDATE **
So I eventually gave in to temptation and snapped one of these up. Had some issues getting it in the UK, had to pay all kinds of charges including £93 for tax on top of the original £340 listing price.
I've not had a chance to properly use it yet due to antenna issues, but I've managed to test it to some extent and, let's just say everything in my studio was buzzing! (including my head). This unit is all power, and as far as I can see it goes way past the 300w output power. Have only tested it for a short space of time but I was getting 350w out it with only putting in 3w.

Re: 300w Chinese power amp

Does the base of the box come off?
Would be nice to see that amp board, under the heat sink.

Yeah mate but more screws attached to the board itself, I’d rather not mess about with it too much as knowing my luck I’ll fuck it up… the thing works and works well that’s all that matters to me

Yeah, no need to dismantle the thing. It does look the part mate, you’ve got a healthy setup there. Looking forward to hearing you on air.

I get them from a guy in Slovakia, this will be my 2nd from him, I’ve used Veronica ones in the past too but these are the best I’ve used.

Birds like to sit on ground radials and chewed through outer cable...Barry06 wrote: ↑Sat Oct 16, 2021 1:54 pmNice find! He has improved the cable on new version and made it more robust so hopefully shouldnt happen again. I also plan to wrap ground radials in barbed wire this time

I’ve got the exact same one at home and it’s the best antenna I’ve ever had.TGillies wrote:I get them from a guy in Slovakia, this will be my 2nd from him, I’ve used Veronica ones in the past too but these are the best I’ve used.
