NXP had a design for using the MRF300 between 87.5 - 108 MHz (broadband). That circuit uses an AFT05MS004N driver to make the whole suitable for very low input (about 10 mW to get about 300W output), but you can also leave the AFT out for higher input (about 2 - 3 watt).
I will try to attach their documentation, otherwise search for “MRF300AN WITH AFT05MS004N DRIVER 87.5-108 MHz REFERENCE CIRCUIT” on the net. It shouldn’t be very hard to find.
I made a few amps by using this design and it works fine. Make sure to use a proper heatsink and a good ventilator though, it can easily get overheated if you push it to the max…
