Hi,
The signal strength LED on the dial of my radio doesn't turn on anymore.
Good radio. Picking Caroline 648 ok in Brussels.
Any idea about the fault? Internal wiring looks ok. LED too.
Schematic anyone?
Can't find one on the web.
Txs in advance.

Are you sure it's an LED and not a small filament bulb?

Sure it's an LED. Tested it. One way conduction.

From experience it's very rare for LED's to pop but it's an old radio so never say never, best to replace it and see if that sorts it.

If it's moving along with the dial pointer, it has all the numbers to have a broken wire from the Led to the IC that drives it. Checked it?

TXS for the reaction.
Yes indeed LEDs go forever.
Got help and schematic on a French forum. I suspect a bad contact in the switch S2 mounted on the DIN socket, supposed to connect emitters of T7 and T8 to ground, allowing control of the LED by detected signal strength voltage.
Will check this WE.

Fixed it: dirty contact in switch S2-2 (radio/phono switch). A drop of Isopropyl alcohol cleaned it.
TXS all for the reactions.
