Saltwater dummy loads
Hi, has anyone used one of these before. Seems crude but effective.

I think it’s crude and …….ineffective. Your rig will be ineffective soon after as well.

Completely useless for RF work. The load impedance will NOT be stable.Maximus wrote: ↑Tue Aug 02, 2022 8:41 pm Hi, has anyone used one of these before. Seems crude but effective.

What is that red thing it’s on and how would that be secured in place ? Also I though all rf gear had to be in a metal case surrounded by ground?

Haha now look what I've gone and started.
....I was also wondering what the traffic cone was all about and any idea what that red thing is attached to the piece of wood?
If I was to take a guess I'd say this was probably Vibes FM 93.8 @Bannerman House, Oval/Vauxhall
or Girls FM 106.6/106.8 @Sirinham Point, Oval/Kennington

The red thing is a fat electrolytic, the red is actually insulating tape securing it to the wood, the bridge is under the guy's hand and there's a toroidal transformer at the bottom end - that plank is the power supply section! The thing that got me is the way the transmitter is being held up at an angle makes it look like it's mounted in a plastic sandwich box. Now the second photo - what brand of bickies is that box from? Looks like they might've been expensive ones, the box is all low profile and shit...
