Pretty sure WK-END aren't anything to do with Weekend Rush. From the names I've heard playing on WK-END the DJ's that have been/are doing shows seem to be a mixture of old Intent guys & some of the old/pirate ex Flex guys.
Currently locked in in Epsom, nice strong signal on 106.5

It was a name change from intent and a good change intent sounds stupid and until recently weekend was on the stream with the intent name still up it was on the simple radio app a few weeks ago but not now under either name and as for weekend rush that's a totally different station from the early 90s and they are online including the simple radio app

Looks like they are on Simple Radio now, under the correct name.

Have also found them on Audials too.

Re: Wk-end 108 fm
there doesn't seem to be an issue with 108.0 in southern Europereverend wrote: ↑Tue May 03, 2022 7:18 amA stereo FM signal occupies roughly 250kHz, mono occupies just 180 kHz, so even a legal stereo station on 107.9 will be slightly out of band (up to 108.025 i.e. 107.9 plus half of 250 kHz). It's probably a matter of degrees, and the aeronautical guys are the first to complain if there's even a whiff of interference.XXL wrote: ↑Mon May 02, 2022 10:55 am I’m not buying the whole using 108 puts you out of band. Iv heard it for years. Why would ofcom use 108.1 or 2 for such crucial services when it’s so close to the fm band? They give everything else such a huge space so why would they use 108.1. Sounds like pirate hear say to me. They’re probably using bad filter and have loud harmonics on 216mhz.
There's a study somewhere which was done years ago which said, if I recall, that the biggest source of interference to aircraft communications was industrial heating equipment which usually runs several kW at 27 MHz but has nasty harmonics right up into the aviation band. The second biggest cause was pirate radio, but specifically rigs that sprog, not well built ones. From memory there was nothing particular about stations using 108.
I'll see if it's still published and post a link later.
I was receiving an Italian station on 108.0 last Saturday (11 June) coming in well on a car radio around 1PM due to Sporadic E skip.
Also in North America, high power stations licenced on 107.9 are allowed to run the IBOC system , even though the "HD" sidebands will spread up to 108.1
108.0 in London might have been an issue if transmitting in close proximity to 97.3 transmitter?? Two high field strength signals 10.7 apart (IF) could cause issues with especially older receivers.

Was locked into WK-END for a very long drive from Leatherhead to Loughton earlier today, solid reception on 106.5 for the whole journey.

Re: Wk-end 108 fm
You're correct - some southern European countries (Italy, Spain, Greece) do use 108.0, but it doesn't stop the fact that they will 'bleed over' into the aeronautical band. And you're very right on the 107.9 US stations too. I guess that's a decision from their regulators who maybe make sure that the lower part of the aero band is free from VOR etc. Your idea about 10.7 MHz is an interesting one, however there are lots more of these around (95.8+10.7 = 106.5 - currently Wk-end etc). I'm never convinced about the 10.7 rule. 21.4 absolutely, as it's the image frequency.87to108 wrote: ↑Sat Jun 18, 2022 10:46 am there doesn't seem to be an issue with 108.0 in southern Europe

Previous Ofcom 'complaints' about pirates often talk about interference to aeronautical services but this could just as easily be sprogging rigs as any of these issues!
if it ain't broke, keep tweaking

Was locked into WK-END on the journey back from Central London/St Paul's area all the way back to Epsom earlier tonight. Reception was rock solid all the way home on 106.5. Some really nice classic House & Garage on there at the time.

It's definitely on there & has been for a while now mate....

I've listened to it on the Audials app a few times. You might be spelling WK-END wrong when you search for it maybe? 100% it's there.....
