Sunrise radio (Yorkshire) new transmitter

Post by radionortheast » Sat Aug 03, 2024 9:30 am

Been on air a few weeks, I was tuning about when I heard it on 100.6, thought it was in car transmitter, not as strong as the 103.2 signal. This is fairly unusual for a commercial radio station to get a new fm transmitter, Sunrise has been on air since 1989, aparently this was the time when radio 1 first broadcasting on fm, I thought it would of been sooner!. Many stations have gone or changed name, its amazing that its still around. https://www.instagram.com/sunriseradiou ... 6vvGaPmZT/

There are two sunrise radios on dab, one is based in Luton, seems to be on a multiplex that has better coverage, Sunrise radio Bradford has smaller coverage, I read a while ago there was talk weather it could match the coverage on dab as on fm.

Or8 radionortheast. I remember the radio 1 eff emm transmitter going live after weeks of a recorded message going on about how good eff emm will be over the "muffled"medium wave with all that interference! Haha, it was Simon Masterbates on the radio with Bros doing the switch on with their new song, I Quit.. 😖😖 I've still got it all on a c90 Memorex cassette from 1988 may or june? Oh yeah and it was 98.8 at first then moved to 98.9 later when Sheffield got it's own rad 1 TX on 99.5..👍

I’m pretty sure my parents would have it on, radio1 or 2, I don't know the difference, :? Steve Right, DLT, that sloppy music that used to when they were telling a sad story, don’t remember much about it, the whack whack opps, I used to record the top 40 later on, music was more got through the tv top of the pops 8-) . I do remember having alittle duck radio at the time, can just about remember the tweeting birds of classic fm, I couldn’t pick up anything on it execept radios 1/2 etc, it predates my interest in radio. My cassette radio was not much better, with a long wire attached I could hear Dream fm disorted on it but couldn't listen to it, would of been late 91, when I got the 30 in 1 electronics kit, I wouldn't have an interest in radio if not for it. Some of my friends said i'd get into trouble for transmitting a low power signal on medium wave, mostly what the 30 in 1 used to do. 8-) sometimes I made the am radio which could pick up radio 1

Something wrong with the audio on it at the moment sounds like lower bit webstream, compared to the main transmitter it is been cut completely off at the top end, does sound like a medium wave station, shame as the 103.2 signal has always been high quality
