I hear joe fm coming over this, interesting lots of new old music on fm, something for everyone, I heard forever autumn playing on one station, don’t know if any of these are pirates or not, fm is really alive over there. So many stations though radio 538, glxy, yoursafe, really bang up to date music. Seem to be lots of receivers to listen to aswell, tunes below 87.5 too, wish I lived an awful lot closer to these, have to wait for tropo to hear them.

Theres signs of some atmospherics going on, i’ve moved my aerial closer to the loft hatch eariler on, started hearing radio 538 on 102.1, another station was on 103,vrt on 90.4, afew irish transmitters, 94.0 was playing some new version of dirty cash. I also keep getting bbc local radio from other areas of the country varying around alot, newcastle was there along with norfolk, maybe gething a complex.

Have a listen round the OIRT band when conditions are good. The Netherlands has many pirates around the 85 mhz. This is known as the 3.5 meter band, and whilst it is used for broadcasts, stations often chat with each other.
The FMDX servers usually tune down to this range. Look for one in Friesland, Groningen or Drente, as these are the hotbed areas of the Dutch pirate scene

Would be nice to hear them, I saw a video a while ago, think it might of been called future fm, playing different styles really upbeat, they do really make an efort with these fun too. I think it might be more of a ham radio thing with music, were they were talking to each other, I would of taken up ham radio if it was transmitting music.

I managed to obtain an old Class B licence, and quickly got myself on 2 meters. It became apparent how boring most Hams are. Most contacts end up being the two Hams playing top trumps with who had the most ailments. Extra points could be scored if you had a hospital appointment on Tuesday. Ive always thought there should be amateur broadcast bands, but the chances of OfCom & PRS allowing it are slim to nil. Why cant we be more like the Dutch?

I used to listen to a few, they would sent me to sleep, they did seem to talk about medical things, there was one who could be quite funny always laughing telling some tale, think hes retired now, about the only one who wasn’t dead serious. Seemed like a bit of toxic enviroment too, remember this kid been bullied on air, they kept accusing him of keying over them, think they had to close the local repeater because of abuse, seemed stuff that would happen in chat rooms would happen over the air unpleasantness, your better off doing your own thing.

Its fairy easy to get equipment that can tune below 87.5,some might only go down to 87, it is enough. I have something I made using a signal generator, produces wideband modulation with an op amp, puts out 1w, runs cool, does stereo too, just be tuning the filter to match. Its possible to get shorter vertical poles to match, so the aerials wouldn’t have to huge either, this could all be on air by this afternoon!.

its a petty there is nowere in the spectrum for music based transmission, there is on 87.5-108, 50 nanowatt, 893Mhz too for headphones, all other allocations even encripted ones music is not allowed.

Is 893 MHz still a thing or is it all Bluetooth now ? Thought all mobile phone companies had snapped up most of the 700-960+ MHz frequencies ?

IIRC there's frequencies set aside for hearing aids too which I'd imagine works better than all that induction loop faff ?
