This is exactly what I was looking for, i’d liked it if dj face would of talked more on the first one, there those funny messages to people been relayed, martin mentioning london road in those out of this world adverts, :D listen to the others when I get the chance. 8-)

I like it they put the date on them, just incase years later someone is listening to the tape turns up at rockingham street/london road

That would be great, I was only thinking of cool/kool the other day, trying to remember as many songs as possible, found 5 songs on youtube, I could get some of the vibe going. 8-)

listening to scr test unknown dj, great voices on this, did bring a tear to my eye hearing all this stuff now others can enjoy them too, though all this stuff was lost chicken song on pitch fm, eastern vibes banging set. 8-) Wonder if someone took the microphone, he said it was broken, i’m sure I remember hearing that on stations having to talk through headphones, forget how good these were.

it was september 1992 when I got a cd twin casset deck boombox, started to hear fantasy coming through, came through with all noise over the top of it, 8-) i was amazed it was coming all the way from sheffield, i’d be listening in my parents bedroom, didn’t have room of my own. All i had was a few radios, casssets few cds that was it, I loved it i’d carry this stuff round with me, i got to 13 but didn’t grow up afterwards.
Hope these can all go on the pirate archive, I have been wondering about this, not sure cool/kool fm was listed. I found these that I heard on Kool fm 8-)
b.f.l project - chain of fools
mount rushmore - you better
Boris Dlugosch pres. booom: hold your head up high (maybe played on it not sure)
phats & small - turn around
doolally - straight from the heart (not sure about this think it was)
shanks & bigfoot - sweet like chocolate
8-) :tup

I’ve got two recordings 25minutes long have the big fm on them, 15minute one of millennium, on one of the tapes there was just this short burst of cool fm, will be good to hear that again, there was also 5 minutes of unity fm huddersfield, 30 seconds of this pirate I think was from Leeds, playing some garage, it had a really good signal on 101.8 in mono, remember hearing all the way down in derby dale.

The pirate archive are working through a lot of recently sent in recordings but are doing their best to put them up as quick as possible. It's just a matter of waiting for them all to be put up on there!
Sounds like this year is the year people are rummaging through their old tapes.. Many fine recordings will be realised, hopefully!

Thanks for that, I had actually just listened to it yesterday as I've been checking the site daily waiting for it to land in the audio section.

Did you tape that in Sheffield, the Move FM signal was good, they were using London Nick built 150 watt rigs with a microwave link. The block was actually quite low almost slap bang in the city centre almost and a single dipole, I'm guessing that was recorded in late January early February 2002. The audio was typically that London sound, mono flat and compressed to death but loud overall. That was actually the first time I'd seen a microwave link in use as every station I'd been on or involved in used Band 3 or 4 links, occasionally Band 1.

Ofcom absolutely hammered Move so it didn't last long really but it was definitely the prototype for Frequency FM 100%.

I had wires criss crossing my bedroom ceiling to get the Sheffield stations crystal clear so just tweaked them a bit to pick move up! Did or8 to be fair! 150w from leeds city centre, yep, didn't do to bad! The signal was very good to slightly crackly..Not too sure of the date of the recording though.. Didn't write on the cassette..

I might of heard the big fm, seems like it became harder to find stuff on mixcloud, like with youtube don’t think theres an option to download something, theres a fantasy fm recording I quite like on there, weather i’d want to sit there recording it I don’t know.

Move was 5 or 6 bars out of 7 when I lived on a hill, problalby see anywere in leeds just around the corner, countryside was like a patchwork quilt.
I had energy 106 at 5 bars, tropo lift went on for 45 minutes kept the signal above 4 bars, you could a clear signal on just 1 bar, I often had it taken apart to get a better signal messing with the internals, even though it had if switching, selecitivity wasn’t that good. There wasn’t much I couldn’t pick up in the end, even had flava/shine weak, when I put a reflector behinde the aerial in loft, don’t mean to hijack a thread. Remember Rebel fm from Bradford was a good signal when it was on 106.8, mono too, I was just using a telescopic rod taped to a wall when it was on, I used to use it for big fm.
